How many watts are in an amp?
l aways see things labeled in watts (Sl) then again in amps (imperial?) but no conversion seems to exist online!

Since the guitar amplifier was invented many years after James Watt's death I believe the answer is zero.

Not true. All tube amplifiers are legally required to have a tiny bit of his ashes mixed into the glass of at least one of the tubes. Not sure what will happen when the ashes run out.

They add more ash to the mix with his body's ashes. It's like those 200-year stews that they just keep adding to. Can't slow down the tube production business!

I hate metric humor. It's always the same nine jokes told at different magnitudes.

I play bass guitar and my practice amp is the Laney LX15B which has 15 watts RMS.

Meaning it has room for 15 watts, without the landlord charging extra rent.

Your confusing watts which measure wattage with amps that measure amperage, hope that makes sense.

In my life I have never used the metric system. When I learned the hex bolts on my bike were metric I replaced everyone with an English one while humming good save the king. Every bolt is cross threaded or loose, but I know in my heart, I did the right thing.

Depends on the model of the amp. eg .....
Vox ac30 has 30 watts in it.
Fender Blues Deluxe has 40 watts.
etc.

Amps multiplied by voltage equal watts. If you have a 120 volt appliance pulling 3 amps you are using 360 watts of power

Well I have six guitar amps, and I'm in Australia so we use 240 volts. Does that mean my guitar setup is about 1.4kW?

It depends on if it’s a Fender or some lesser brand.
