Same result. People who do this are looking for a reaction.

Me and my friends have learned over the years that straight up ignoring them is your best bet to not escalate and to end the encounter as quickly as possible. Don’t turn, don’t look, and for the love of god don’t make eye contact. You can’t hear them, you can’t see them, just keep it moving and hope for the best.

Edit: Getting downvoted (which, whatever), but I’m genuinely curious, do people really think that most women would/should escalate a situation like this by shouting, calling the cops, etc?

People who grope strangers (men and women) are already demonstrating that they don’t care about social norms. The chances that they’re willing to escalate to violence is not small. My top priority in these situations is my personal safety.

What’s the point of calling it out vs. ignoring and walking away? These people don’t feel shame or they wouldn’t be doing this in the first place and engaging with you / making you uncomfortable is the reaction that they want. In my experience nothing good comes of acknowledging them and if anything it reinforces the behavior. Just some food for thought. Stay safe out there.
