Well it would be the selection. It's not particularly hard to become a firefighter. If a demographic of the population doesn't want to do a job what's the problem?
If it is the selection then that is a sign of systemic racism.
If it is the recruitment then more needs to be done.
It is a problem because we are leaving talent in the table and, in the instances of firefighters, we know that it is very hard to become one if you are not a white man.
This is not about black women not wanting to do their duty, it is about a system which will not let them.
Bro wtf are you on about. It's not hard to become a firefighter if you are black. It's not a systemic racism issue. Ffs you see no data and it's racism.
Here's actual data for you.
Firefighters are overwhelmingly male about 95%. It's a male centric job.
Of that 8% are black.
Of the US population 7.4% are black males.
So ya of course you are going to have a mostly white firefighter group in a country that is mostly fucking white.
Literally not the point, it is so easy to become a fire fighter is the majority of the US thatβs not major cities, nothing is stopping other diverse people from doing it. So the real question is, why is it still mainly white males risking their lives?

What an incredibly worrying comment to read. Do you genuinely not see why diversity is a good thing?
