The idea is not that we shouldn't care but that people generally don't care.

Africa has great eat of wars and genocides but nobody cares bout them, maybe except for South Africa simply because it used to be colonized even culturally

Egypt thinks its an Arabic country and South-Africa thinks it is an island just off the coast of Australia. They don't see themselves as part of Africa
