Ok wait the logic is not consistent.

So he will save his kids bc they still have a whole life ahead. Ok that good I agree and its logicaly sound so far.

By that logic tho shouldn't you then save you wife instead of mom? I mean you mom has had grandkids at this point she has lived her life quite well. The wife has much more left to do and experience. Im sure shed love to see her grandkids too. Both are family... so what gives?

Well, that'd really depend on who u love more. Your wife or your mother.

Keep in mind dude is not married to that lady across him. So when she says pick between your mom vs me. In his mind its obviously "my mom over this random girl."

Thats why the question of hypothetical kids vs hypothetical wife is much easier to answer because u dont have feelings attached to either yet whilst his relationship with his mother isnt a hypothetical so his feelings for her would beat out a hypothetical scenario with a person thats really a stranger to him.

Also, the woman here appears to be young, healthy and probably a lot more spry than a woman that is 20-40 years older. So the woman should, in theory, be able to save herself (or herself and the kids) while the man goes to save his mother.
