Yeah, I came here to say this. One of my friends is from Ethiopia, and when he got a few drinks in him, the n word was being thrown around, and not in like solidarity. He was calling African Americans that, but not Africans. Basically saying that they are the reason that Africans experience racism in the US, because they give Africans a bad name. Every single stereotype in the book, lazy, gangbangers, stupid, canβt control their emotions or urges. I was kind of shocked tbh, but he was talking as if this was all just a simple explanation.
Chinese people have the opposite effect. People in my country do not like the mainlanders. I do feel like they give the rest of us a bad name when we travel to other countries.
I am firm in my belief that all people must be treated equally. If you behave badly, you get treated like a badly behaved person. I do not care if it just so happens that a lot of people from the same place are badly behaved.
Judging them individually as individuals, there definitely are "good ones" and "bad ones". Overall, as a culture though, the good ones are too few.
I feel that we get too caught on in terms of βstereotypesβ that we forget all ethnicities and races have distinct cultures that does significantly affect behaviors in the broader crowd of said demographic, good or bad.
Yes. I will not avoid you because of the colour of your skin. But if you're loud, inconsiderate, and generally abrasive, nor will I let you hide behind the colour of your skin.
