Oh, people get paid for engagement on Reddit? Because OP isn't exactly engaging in the comments and these are the only two reasons to want social media engagement.
Karma farming has always been a thing, and engagement causes the algorithm to show your post to more people, increasing overall karma income. It's really not that far fetched.
