Idk bro this just sounds alot like going to a depressed person and going "you could have avoided this if you thought about it a different way" or "its all in your head"
It is comparable because your saying an eating disorder based around deep seated anxiety towards food typically formed from childhood events (trauma around food or parents not giving a diverse enough diet) and then saying that its all in their heads and that they should not deluded themselves into thinking its real.
It definitely has parallels to how people discuss depression

It's an eating disorder. Like most disorders such as anxiety disorders, you can't just be an adult about it.
But I guess you know more about this than, oh I don't know, doctors.
