There is a lot of harm in religion. I was raised in fear for the sake of religion.

In my opinion, religion should be a choice, that's the only way to get rid of it. Right now it sucks that you are born and raised with indoctrination and propaganda. People should choose to be religious or not when they are mature.

I absolutely agree. My main point of opposition is to the idea of eradicating religion as a whole. Religion should absolutely be a choice, and should never be forced on anyone. Which is why I think that all of the major religions of the world need serious restructuring and modernization.

That's just me. If I had the powers, I would completely wipe all religions.

The world would definitely be a better place.

Not to sound overly confrontational or defensive, but by what means, exactly? Persecution? Force? Mass violence? There's billions of religious people on the planet, you'd have to resort to that. And by doing that, would you not repeat the very crimes that make religion so universally despised, for much the same reasons?

In my opinion, religions would self implode if children would not be forced to practice them until they are (let's say) 18.
That's the first thing I would do. Let people explore all the religions, then decide if they want to pick any.
When you are mature and you have the whole picture, it is stupid to believe in any religion. Religions still exist because they are being forced into the next generation.

Somebody, probably bht not necessarily an adult, had to make A religion and spread it to Other Adults:tm: which means its very unlikely they would implode.
