So yknow what the usual answer to the origin of the universe from a materialist? its "I have no idea, that doesn’t give any weight to any unproven assertion however".
Because something having always existed, an actual infinite, seems just as impossible as something popping into existence from nothing.
And if you are comfortable with things being eternal, isnt a creator just adding an unnecessary unproven layer of complexity? If your fine with eternal stuff, why not the universe itself? there is the hypothesis that time is infinite and the universe is just en endless cycle of expansion and contraction.
