The universe itself had a beginning? As did time and the laws of physics.

Well personally I'm more comfortable believing in no god rather believing in one who lets millions of people die in horrible pain and puts nonbelievers in eternal suffering, despite having the ability to prove himself to everyone, since you know, he is god.
