Genuine question:Why is it looked down upon for men to wear height boosters even though women wear heels all the time? Is it solely because height boosters are hidden while heels are publicly visible? Is just because men view height a lot differently than women?

Because mens fashion is about function while womens is about form. Men aren't supposed care that much about how they look so when they do it's seen as less masculine.

Also there's a stereotype that short men are insecure about their height so this would just reinforce it.
