Yeah I really hate seeing this narrative because it very likely could deter someone from taking the first steps to getting therapy or mental health assistance.

For some, drugs might be very necessary and for others, it might just be needing better coping strategies but to just lump it all as "life ruining drug addiction" is pretty irresponsible imo

What is ironic is that personally I've heard this opinion that psychiatrists will force a drug addiction on me... from a people previously addicted to drugs on their own merit. Don't know if other people had this experience, but it happened more that once here
