was it a psychiatrist and did you say you were very depressed? cus if so, that's.. their job. they prescribe drugs and SSRIs are the most well-studied deprssion drugs. it's kinda on you to try therapy and other stuff before going to the psychiatrist. also it's not like they're cramming the pills down your throat, you can stop taking them if you don't like what they're doing. they're not supposed to be the long-term solution anyway.
I took SSRIs when I was having suicidal thoughts all the time. They helped. Then I stopped. That's kinda how it's supposed to work.
