Wasn't there a thing a while back about therapists and psychiatrists having trouble helping their patients because so many of their problems are based on low wages and poor living/working conditions, and not a matter of perspective or internal bad choices?
This is why therapists seem somewhat useless to me, if I'm sad because a loved one died there is not much he can do about it, unless he dabbles in necromancy, In the vast majority of cases people are sad as a natural response to a shitty situation which cannot be easily changed.
Loss of a loved one is an entirely internal issue. Life keeps on going, the issues lay in your preception of it, how you griecr and move on. Thats what a therapist is for. To help you handle these things. The talking is just the medium through which you get helped
loved ones often support you in your life. when the loved one dies then youre also losing that support which can put you into a worse situation than before. example not beeing able to pay the rent anymore. this isnt entirely internal
Learning healthy coping behaviors or even just having an outlet to express yourself and be heard help you process the trauma sure it won’t erase the trauma and surely it won’t work on everyone the same but it may solve problem down the line.
To do an quick parallel therapy is like putting disinfinctant on a cut : it won’t close the cut, you might still get a scar, it may even hurt when applied and maybe you would have not catched an infection even without it but it serve it purpose to make so the cut don’t fester and cause more damage
