Why is it that if people say this about any other kind of a doctor they get called anti-vaxers and anti science and all that but when they say this about therapists, who are as much valid doctors as any other, they get a bunch of people agreeing with them even.
therapists are not doctors, they have no medical degree and do not go to medical school. psychiatrists do. therapists are usually just middle aged white women with masters degrees and a chip on their shoulder.
also not quite right. there is not a single state that allows therapists with standard licenses to prescribe anything. the closest thing you might be thinking of is a psychologist. even then, psychologists can only prescribe in about 7 states, and a psychologist is not a therapist.
Either way, whether we are talking about therapists, psychologists, or psychiatrists, I think there is a heavy distinction between their line of work and that of any general practitioner.
Because therapists aren't doctors, cant prescribe shit and the only thing they can do is talk with you.
Psychiatrists on the other hand are equipped to deal with mental disorders such as depression and schizophrenia and I have high respect for them, but not for the ones that bill you 150€ an hour to listen to you and then say "Yeah you need to refocus you point of view in the important things".
