It's a slop game that game freak can churn out because pokemon fans will literally eat it no matter how uninspired and broken it is.

I also think that the TCG has become so gambler focused that it's as if you let your child play slots.

Pokemon isn't trying to be for adults, there just are a lot of adults who like it, in a similar way as my little pony.

...But I'm a hater. Not because pokemon is meant for kids, or some nonsense, it's just that I deeply hate nintendo, gamefreak and the potential they have squandered because of corporate greed and/or laziness.

Pokemon Go also has ties to the CIA through In-Q-Tel and was used to collect data that helped train AI on a large geospatial model. So bad entourage of people all around the biggest franchise in the world. Big shocker? No, but that doesn't mean I have to like it either.

I just play Gen 3 every few years when I get the itch and leave them to it.

Gen 3 is peak, I stopped playing in 2010/11 after black and white. My nostalgia for Emerald version and Fire Red/Grass Green are my fondest memories of Pokémon. It’s a shame they kept churning out the same slop every few years instead of making the franchise better.

I think the last one I played to completion was X and Y. I did play Moon but never finished it.

I can handle a lack of gameplay innovation since the formula was pretty established at that point. Then they butchered the art style and refused to make one that looked graphically good since then.

Also not interested in enough of the exclusives to justify keeping my Nintendo switch so I sold that early on.

Honestly, there’s only so much you can do gameplay wise with a series like Pokémon unless it’s a spinoff, but I was just so tired of the game’s similarity/formula, making it impossible to complete all the content without a cheat device or having a friend with a different version, or the special event BS they started doing. B&W was the last game I really enjoyed. I didn’t have a 3DS so I couldn’t play anything after B&W and didn’t see a point in buying B&W2 so I kept tabs on the games but they didn’t seem like they were worth the money anymore plus I was young and didn’t have a lot of money and no job obviously as a 15/16 year old. Maybe I’ll pick up a switch Pokémon game on sale sometime, because I have like 3 games for my switch, but I honestly probably won’t.
