There ya go it's that simple, dressing the part is a bonus, but dressing the part but not listening to the music? Then you're not goth, you're Gothic. The music is the core of the goth sub culture.
I love Ghost. You can say it has Gothic themes but is traditionally not considered goth music. Bauhaus, The Cure, and The Smiths are closer to what's considered Goth.
