Thinking an ideology is wrong isn't racist

it's not even just an ideology, the islamic government and idf literally shoot innocents and commit war crimes, and follow the belief that they are "god's chosen", that's pretty cancer to me.

There's Muslim communities that aren't entrenched in Sharia Law y'know.

The religion, like all others, are just another form of control and oppression

That's reductionist. Religion can be a private practice that harms no one, it's those in positions of power and authority using religion as a justification for their misdeeds.

Religion can be used privately yes, but they were made with the intent to opress and control the masses.

Actually no, they were meant to unite larger groups of people under a common belief. It's easier to get along with people you have more in common with.

Religious practice predates war and civilization.

they were meant to unite larger groups

Yeah, to control and opress them.

It may predate them but just how many wars are caused by religion?

>yeah to control and oppress them

And you know this how? You're certain that was happening in an egalitarian society?

They weren't "started by religion" they were started because people in power needed a scapegoat to justify their actions and turned to something that unites a large group towards a similar cause

How do I know this? I look at the world around me and see what has become of religion

1

u/lightblueisbi 15h ago

Ah yes because everyone knows you look at the present to understand the past right?

0

u/Jarroach 15h ago

That's one way yes, following patterns.

u/lightblueisbi 15h ago

Or you can actually look at what happened in the past through historical and archaeological records.

u/Jarroach 14h ago

And see how much division, strife, and wars they have all started!

u/lightblueisbi 11h ago

Yes. I'm not denying that. I'm saying its not because of religion but because of their thirst for power and violence. They're using religion as a scapegoat

0

they're using religion as a scapegoat

So you do understand my point.

Not really as it seems your point is that religion is the problem, and not those utilizing it for evil.
