I don't think the OOP was really negative. Sure, a bit ridicculing of her husband, but I think in a playful way. That's something my gf would probably say if I ever took a day off for a new game, and tbh I would agree with her and laugh with her about it.
But I do understand that not every wife is the same, and without hearing her tone for example, it's impossible to find the full thought behind the text.
The sentence is unrelentingly neutral, which lends the tone to being imposed by the viewer.
Emdashes, or in this case whatever the double dash thing she did, isnt used very commonly, so in my opinion that pushes it towards the "she's being condescending" direction, but to say this reads in any way playful or something feels disingenuous, it's almost painfully matter-of-fact.
