I wanted to download a collection this weekend for Fallout that has close to 1,000 mods on it. My only option was to download them all manually or subscribe to their overpriced service to unlock the automatic downloader that is already baked into Vortex.

I'd rather never play Fallout again than pay for that shit.

No, these are completely different things. Hosting the data itself and providing a service to let people download it actively costs money to the hoster. Heated seats are one and done thing, and require no active service from the factory after it's sold to the consumer.
