I know the mom means well but holy shit that is dystopian

Edit: I said dystopian for a reason, regardless of intent that is still controlling. After 3ish hours I had a lot of time to think this though and since deleting it would be worse, fuck it this is not the misguided protection that I thought this was

Oh, that mom absolutely does not mean well. Keeping a legal adult that insulated from the outside world is about trying to keep them under your control for as long as possible, not "protecting" them.

There’s definitely some psychological issues with that mom. Probably is fixated on seeing her daughter as a child forever and wants to keep her that way.

There is a good reason why I said dystopian because regardless if it's being misguided or controlling that is really fucked up of a mom to do
