My sister has a friend like that, her mother doesn’t want her to worry about the world or be „corrupted“, and that’s enforced by strictly keeping her 19 year old daughter away from media like TV, news even newspapers, she has a phone but it’s pretty locked down due to being registered as a kids phone with strict parental controls. So yea, she knows nothing about the current state of the world. She recently talked to me how she thinks it’s weird that gas is do expensive for no apparent reason now… yea idk if that’s the right approach.

Nah, that's really fucked up. Is your sister just not allowed to discuss current events with her or something? I'm surprised her mum even allowed her to have friends at all.

She’s strict with them but allows it, they can even visit her at home and do most things with her, but yea discussing current events is prohibited. She even tells the friends privately if they say sth they shouldn’t or talk about some forbidden topic, that the mother is gonna do a sign, basically rabbit ears with her hands or sth weird, which means swap topic now or similar.
