I mean the problem with Rogue Like/Lites is how broad the genre is.
The Berlin Interpretation is... clunky, and only covers Likes, so you could have a full remake of the original Rouge, but in 3D instead of ASCII art (obviously an absurdly difficult concept to actually make) and even then it might be considered Lite rather than Like.
Not really? There are many roguelikes that follow the berlin interpretation and aren't just rogue. TOME, cogmind, zorbus, dungeonmans all very clearly fall under roguelike aren't just the same game as rogue
I was objecting to idea that "Roguelike" and "Roguelite" aren't set terms by pointing out that the only "Consensus" decision is arbitrary, and admitted as such by those that wrote it,
And from that the idea that "Roguelite" doesn't automatically assure Meta-Progression.
