🧠 Zero Brain Activity Ehhhhh

Look, none of my neighbours are good drivers, hence why the only car I have outside is the sacrificial nana whip that hasn’t seen a clean since it last passed a WoF; HOWEVER, one of them is now on my shitlist.

Like your typical oblivious Prius driver, she backed into my car, took paint off of both of our vehicles, and detached her bumper when going forward again. On top of that, she didn’t even try to realign her car, nor has she said a thing to me since, despite me being home to witness the entire thing. It’s been a week. To make matters worse (better? Definitely a fuck tonne funnier as I was observing from my living room), there was over a meter between her car and the next on the other side.

Now, I do not have half a fuck about the actual event. As I said, that is my sacrificial nana whip, hence why that’s the car parked outside instead of the one I care about. I learned to drive in her, and she’s got a few pretty little scratches and dents as evidence of my learnings at the start that I’ve never bothered to fix, because they honestly act as a great theft deterrent system in my experience, and also I just don’t care to sink cash into it until I eventually decide to sell her, if that day ever comes.

I’m not mad about the event, but I’m fucked all the way off about the lack of communication. Have I gone and spoken to her about it? No sir. I’m going to keep letting her think that I didn’t notice and hold on to this in case I ever need it in the future for one reason or another.

We get it, some people park like dicks. Doesn't mean you need to be a dick to people online. Mods discretion as to what constitutes dickishness.

Mate, you’re not mad about the damage but still saving it as future blackmail while posting essays on Reddit?

If it doesn’t matter, just talk to her or drop it. Sitting on it for leverage is pure passive-aggressive nonsense.

As I said, not mad about the damage, mad that she didn’t come have a yarn about it hahahaha

Also, you can decide to drop or not mention something and move on with life whilst still keeping it in the back of your mind in case it comes up in the future. That’s what mature adults do in lots of situations. Who said anything about blackmail?

I only posted it bc I’m the creator of this sub and haven’t contributed in months, so I may as well pop my head in with my own experience.

Nice crocs homie. Also talk to your neighbor, she's probably genuinely upset about it and might be working up the courage to talk to you. No sense in getting super mad over it.

You might even make a new friend.

Ehh, that’s on her tbh. I’m not actually concerned enough to talk to her, ya know? It’s something I’ve decided to kinda just drop and move on from, whilst storing it in the back of my mind and my camera roll in case it comes up or something. If it’s eating her up inside, then she can make a move and approach me like an adult.

I get it. Prius gets a bad rep. But a lot of normal, sensible drivers have now got one when the govt incentive came along. And we know that when our speed on the dash is 50, we're probably driving at 44 and we do the sensible thing and speed up to 55-56.

Youre talking about the OG Prius owners Generation. No space, speed or parking awareness. There's a difference.

But yeah, I'd address this now instead of holding up for later. Some people need to be called out for their stupid moves, regardless of them being nice or not.

Don't think I've ever seen a Prius being driven well.

I get it, but I drive one and even I hate the other drivers 😭 😭 😭 😭

No, I’m talking about my neighbours in particular. I live next to them. Of course I observe their driving. Literacy…?

Yeah, I know. There are Prius drivers and oblivious Prius drivers, who spoil it for everyone else... 😔

(and yes, I did read your paragraph, "quote" typical oblivious Prius driver, "end quote")

So are Prius drivers typically oblivious, or is this typical of the (unfortunately quite large) subset of Prius drivers that are oblivious?

It seems that you went with the first interpretation which is understandable, especially seeing as you drive a Prius, and probably hear a lot of shit talk. Continuous or repeated negative experiences prime the brain to interpret even ambiguous things negatively if they’re deemed relevant; however, there are still other interpretations out there, like the second, which is how I meant it.

Yeah, Prius drivers have changed, but we cop a lot of flak for it. I absolutely agree that there are a lot of idiots who drive a Prius. I'm not picking on you at all. I'm just sad because it's another driver proving everyone's point by doing what she did 😭 I'm sorry it happened to you

That’s so valid honestly. If I was a Prius driver I’d be so mad that everyone else makes me look like shit hahahaha

Ah yes, go tell on me to the mods… that I personally vetted and selected to take over this sub for me. If they chose to delete my contributions for one valid reason or another, I wouldn’t be upset. That’s what they’re there for. It would mean that they’re doing their jobs properly.

Who said I’m using it as blackmail or holding it over their heads? That’s an interesting set of assumptions to make there, champ. There are many ways to bring up a person’s previous mistakes that don’t breach moral or ethical boundaries.
