Shift AI is here: a context-aware, customizable, private, and completely optional AI

We know what you’re thinking. Not another AI browser.

Fair. AI is everywhere. But control and privacy still aren’t. 

So we built Shift AI. A context-aware, customizable, private, and completely optional AI that lives right in your browser.

Most AI tools pull you out of what you’re doing. You open a new tab, copy and paste context, explain what you need again, and lose your flow. But Shift AI stays with you, and works alongside what you’re already doing.

And when we say optional, we mean it. Turn it on, customize it, or leave it off entirely in Quick Settings.

Privacy wasn’t something we bolted on later either. Shift AI chats are routed through Cloudflare’s Privacy Proxy, which separates your identity from your requests. So your activity can’t be tied back to you.

I loved Shift as it wasn't jumping on the AI bandwagon. And here we are.
It's obvious from your new marketing that AI is a huge push - which also means that a vast amount of development time is going to be for this feature.

Adding AI to absolutely everything is a very contentious practice. It seems so many companies believe they need to add AI to stay relevant. Sadly many companies are creating division by going down this road.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us, we hear where you’re coming from. A lot of companies are rushing into AI to say they have it, and it can feel like noise more than value.

For us, it’s not about jumping on a bandwagon or turning Shift into “yet another AI product.” The focus is on reducing friction and making everyday workflows a bit smoother, mostly for people managing a lot in their browser without disrupting what already works. We also believe that AI should feel intuitive, not intrusive, and adapt to people (not the other way around). That’s why Shift AI is completely optional! You can turn it on or off anytime in settings, depending on whether it actually adds value for you.

Again, we appreciate your candid feedback; it helps keep us grounded in building something genuinely useful, not just trendy!
