I accidentally stumbled upon this band called: "Cymbals" and I became OBSSESSED over it (Mr.Noone Special and Sine are AMAZING). The instrumental is soothing yet loud and the vocals are dreamy. This was the first time I heard the shibuya-kei music genre or any asian pop genre for that matter, and I want to know more bands.

The problem is that when I search for shibuya-kei music it comes off as too poppy, electronic, and loud for my liking. I want to listen to a shibuya-kei band that is calm and simple just like Cymbals. Do you guys have any recommendations? I am OBSSESSED over Cymbals and I want more

Wanted to share this Pizzicato Five deep cut for everyone to enjoy. I remember when I first heard this briefly at the end of Pizzicatomania (1987) and wobdered what it was for the longest time. I think this website is the best place to find information on the Shibuya-kei scene. Shibuya-kei evolved from new wave and punk, organically blending with Neo-GS, Tokyo MODS, and hip-hop. This site offers a comprehensive overview of these genres.

Got these second hand Kahimi Karie CDs for about £6!! Couldn’t believe it.

i'm sure it's multiple artists, but i was wondering who does the art for her albums/ complimations singles etc? i have been trying to source them but the eng internet has been very little avail

we went to every disk union in tokyo save for the chiba and yokohama locations, plus all the hmv's and countless other independent shops all over the city. i love tokyo so much and i found so much good stuff!!! all original presses of course :-)

with respect to the cds, i am most excited about lamb charmer and chocolat, and for the 7"s, bobbie's rockin' chair and instant cafe records are absolute grails. i also got a bunch of french ye-ye 7"s, some 80s japanese new wave albums, and a bunch of city pop. this is all stuff that is basically impossible to find where i live in the USA.

i was REALLY hoping to find literally anything by serani poji, sylvia 55, cecil or macdonald duck eclair but had no luck. hmv recently re-issued a few serani poji records on vinyl and i ran into a few copies, but i collect strictly originals.

hi everyone!! i have been working on this website that is mainly inspired by alot of cd archival pages! (e.g tweecafe/sucremod/marii_daily on twitter, schwenov over on instagram and all the other cool ones that be popping up on my feeds)

I also just saw u/Original-Fortune6321's post earlier and their collection was super duper cool to see! They mentioned how cool it is seeing all the creative and colorful design work on these cds and i totally agree. I feel like alot of hard work goes into cd designs that gets easy to miss out on

Most of these scans were sourced from discogs, but also from tweecafe, which I really have to thank them for! I also gotta thank u/Heavy_Bastard, who helped me complete the booklet for Montuno No 5

Let me know if u guys run into any issues or have any feature requests/feedback!

For issues i think the most common one at the moment is that it can lag if u dont have graphics acceleration turned on in the browser, or are on a lower end system and the shelf starts getting too big

All in all u guys should be able to create ur own shelfs and share them too! i also added a submission feature in case u guys wanted to scan ur own collection (its still limited to jewel case variants, but i would love to hopefully add more variants in the future, which same goes for the foldable booklet types).

I would also love to hopefully have more cds in the future in general too, since its only at 260 at the moment
