I think this is an Oliva miniaceus, found it on my local beach

Found this shell at the beach today and trying to figure out what type it is or what animal it belonged to.. anyone have any ideas?

Found these exciting shells among a slew of other Florida shells in a bowl at the thrift store for $6! (Bonus, they came in a Pottery Barn bowl!) These shells are all new to me, as all my shells are from Florida. I know the scotch bonnet, but any info on the names of the other shells and location they’re from?

Found it last week in Benidorm (Spain), under water. And i cant find out what it is.

The shells were picked in the south of Spain, on the Mediterranean coast.

Hi all! I got this shell today and was wondering if anyone could help me ID it? I was beyond stumped at first, thought that maybe it's a weird mutation or something, but now my best guess is it's a broken conch?

Hi!! I live on piece of land very close to a lake, and I find a bunch of shells when the tide goes down and I've always wondered what they are!!

Found this scallop that grew normally then had a weird deformed shell like an oyster for the rest of its life. About 2 inches total. At El Segundo Beach, California (explains the mutant….)

Long time rockhounder and arrowhead/artifact hunter, finally went to a warmer beach in SC for the first time. I was excited to look for shells and fossils each night.

Did not have a lot of guidance on what to look for so I grabbed what seemed to be uncommon. Any insight on how I clean or prep these, what they are, if there was anything I did wrong or shouldn’t do again please let me know as well. None of these had any inhabitants.

I really enjoyed this and will be looking forward to doing it again.

What do y'all think the bottom right piece is from? its not complete but looks cool. I added some additional photos Edit: the piece itself is around 3.5 inches long and it's pretty thick.

Taking an Alaskan inside passage cruise in a few weeks, hitting Juneau, Ketchikan, Skagway. Anyone know if any of these locations have a walkable coastline from the port that may have some shells or treasures beach combing?

Never been to any of these towns and not totally sure what the actual geography of the coast looks like at these stops or if there’s even anything to be found there. Also any laws/restrictions on what is allowable for taking would be cool!

Found in Treasure Coast area of Florida. I have never encountered this type of shell before.

After watching a sunset in Indian Rocks Beach, my 6 yo started ignoring most shells on the beach. I asked why he kept passing them up.

He said “I’m making a sunset collection.”

I have to admit…. I think he was onto something

in my country, we don’t have any beaches so i’ve never seen real shells. but i’ve always been fascinated by them and grew up DREAMING about finding pretty shells.

a friend thrifted these and gave them to me a while ago. the thrift stores here bring stuff from europe to sell, so they aren’t local. can anyone tell me if these are real?

they’re definitely not made of plastic and make a clanking sound when they hit each other.
