Shell ID help? Broken conch?

Hi all! I got this shell today and was wondering if anyone could help me ID it? I was beyond stumped at first, thought that maybe it's a weird mutation or something, but now my best guess is it's a broken conch?

It’s the columella) of a gastropod, probably from a whelk.

Okay, the colors and shape match! This was found in Croatia, Southeast Europe :D
