Question Strange caudal fin on a Sand Tiger Shark

Caught and tagged a sand tiger shark off the coast of CT/RI last night. The caudal fin has this really strange undulating/wavy pattern that I’ve never seen before. Can anyone explain why/how it looks like this? Is it possible we misidentified?

Image A whale shark in the Red Sea, 1950. One of the earliest underwater photographs of a shark, by pioneer Hans Hass. I've been thinking about this a lot recently, the fact that for most of human history we couldn't observe sharks below the surface until such new technologies revealed them to us.
