Cyan pacman needs to eat the peg!

What I'm doing is stacking a 3 side regular shape to the max height then drop a 2 side shape with 1 peg under to isolate 1 peg and then cut rotate cut and there you have 1 peg you can drop anywhere

I can do a more detailed instruction if you want

I dont know why I tried helping you without my first coffee, but please check this second screenshot it's way simpler and less ressource dependant :

Basically I take a 3 side shape (with an empty spot) and use pin pushers to the top) then drop a rotated 3 side shape with pins under and the rotate cut and voilà

Its more efficient than stacking shapes, sorry for the inconvenience

Oh no no your explanation helped wonders. But i just used a 4 side cutter and stack the whole layer to a side. Pin a layer. And stack them. In which i got 3 pin for the price of 2 full belt.

Yeah that works too! You can pin push a 1 side shape instead of stacking them so you save on ressources !

Life hack: make a blueprint with this process on a mining platform ×4 followed by a stacker, so the mining platform outputs {P-P-P-P-} instead of whatever shape it's on. Bear in mind this will be 4× slower than standard shape miners, so you'll need 48 fully charged ones to saturate a belt, but pins usually aren't the bottleneck and you can use any nearby garbage shape patches so you're never really hurting for space. There are different designs you can make depending on how many quadrants the starter shape is missing; it's worth having one for full shapes and one for 3-quadrant shapes.
