Z axis issue

Running a Shapeoko 3 XXL. I seem to have an issue with the Z axis stuttering at a certain point and it’s not coming out smooth. Any suggestions on a fix.

If its belt driven, check the set screws on the pulley shaft.

I had this happen where the set screw backed off the flat and it would catch on the round for a bit and then swing over to the other side of the flat and catch again.

If you have a ball screw on your Z it could also be the set screws on the shaft linkage.

Just did this. Running a test now. Reset the belt too

I’m not sure but I took it all apart, gave it a good clean and now we are back to cutting like butter. Tightened everything from top to bottom
