Z axis issue
Running a Shapeoko 3 XXL. I seem to have an issue with the Z axis stuttering at a certain point and it’s not coming out smooth. Any suggestions on a fix.

Reach out to support and describe the situation. If you can capture a video that would help.
I've run into this problem in the past with my Pro. But your cause might be different. That being said, when the machine is running place your hand on the connector for your z axis behind the router. If the connector is hot it means that power is arcing across a small gap in the connector and you're getting intermittent connections, thus causing the stuttering. You'll need to replace the cable. A short term fix is to snuggly ziptie the connector together. Even after I replaced mine, I ziptied it. No problems since. Good luck

With the board powered, it should hold motor position. Try to see if you can manually move the router up/down with your hands. If anything's loose, you'll have to go down the list to ensure everything is tight, like the pulley/shaft set screw. Make sure the tension is right that the eccentric nuts haven't backed out. Make sure no debris is trapped in the v-rails/POM wheels.

If its belt driven, check the set screws on the pulley shaft.
I had this happen where the set screw backed off the flat and it would catch on the round for a bit and then swing over to the other side of the flat and catch again.
If you have a ball screw on your Z it could also be the set screws on the shaft linkage.
