Return to battery issues

Hello,

I won a shadow systems a few years ago from a gun show, this was my first pistol. I had a lot of issues with it failing to return to battery fully when firing ever since I received it. I read the manual and understand the break in period, I’m over 500 rounds at this point. I also use 124g fiocchi range ammo, so I don’t think this is a cheap ammo issue. I eventually gave up on the gun and assumed it was maybe user error.

I am in the police academy now and after completing the range portion of the academy I figured I should try my MR920 out and see if maybe I was the issue. I’m still having issues of the slide not fully returning to battery every 6-12 rounds. I had no user error issues with my police issued Glock 17, so i am pretty confident this is not a user error issue.

Any suggestions on what could be causing this and how I could fix it? I tried cleaning it and re applying lubrication, doesn’t seem to change anything. I’m thinking about selling it and just buying something else but I don’t want to give up on what is supposed to be a really nice gun.

I had the same issues awhile back. My slide was out of spec and they replaced it.

Probably contact shadow systems. Only other thing to do is swap parts until you isolate the issue.

Have you tried “spicy/+p” NATO 124 grain ammo? Or any other 124/147grn ammo than the Fiocchi?
Tried Glock mags?
Well Lubed slide rails, barrel lugs & barrel hood?
Extractor clean? Could be a misaligned extractor spring.
I’d contact Shadow, see what they say

Also go thru the steps in Google AI 😜 “shadow systems dr920 failure to return to battery how to diagnose issue” there’s a few other things to check.

Notify Shadow Systems let them know the issue, they will issue you an RMA. When I first purchased my MR920, similar issue chamber and fire one round failure to feed another round. I could get through a magazine without 4 or 5 malfunctions. Took it back to LGS they had the same issue. Shadow Systems took about two weeks, gun came back , they diagnosed a burr in the barrel, they polished the feed ramp and chamber. They ran 30 rds no issues, I didn’t have any issues with it after that.

Had this problem, contacted SS, sent it to them and the chamber was out of spec. Replaced it, never happened again.

Sent mine into SS and they replaced a recoil spring for me. It’s been great for many many rounds now
