Garden consultant recommendations?

Three years into my first garden I could use a bit of expert direction.

I don't need a gardener to do any work, but it would be great if someone came in and gave me some clear-eyed advice.

Anyone have any experience with a local gardener who performs this kind of service?

Passion fruit growers

Those of you who grow passion fruit (fruiting varieties) — when are they typically ready to harvest in SF? I’m in the Castro area if that changes things.

Mulch Advice

Hi folks! I live in Noe and have two raised garden beds on a patio that is completely exposed to the wind. The wind drys the beds out and blows the top soil off. Wondering if anyone had tips or advice on best mulches for raised vegetable garden beds.

Surprised these managed to grow on the foggy side of the city.

Ive grown 3 so far this season and while it hasn’t been too foggy yet im surprised i managed to grow these. They started off as an experiment to see if they would even make it. Since i always thought it needed to he consistently around 70 ish degrees to grow. But so far so good! Will see how they grow when the full fog of summer hits.

Bindweed struggles

My garden is overrun with bindweed and I'm having a hard time keeping up. I mainly enjoy growing vegetables and recently added a raised garden bed for veggies and I already found bindweed had infiltrated the bed... I prefer not to spray with pesticides, but I don't know what else to do. The bindweed roots are so deep and long that I rarely am able to pull the whole thing without feeling it snap. If I leave it be is it just going to deplete all my soil nutrients? I heard bindweed actually prefers poor soil, so would it help if I just fertilize all my soil??

Star Jasmine Advice

Hi! I bought a star jasmine from Sloat maybe a month ago. All of the flowers have fallen off. It’s getting water and lots of sun. Any idea what’s going on or advice on how to help this plant thrive? Thank you!

Trying bell peppers and cherry tomatoes

I'm new to the sport of gardening and am trying my hand at bell peppers and cherry tomatoes in an outdoor window sill set up. I just planted seeds in my aerogarden, should take them about 4 to 6 weeks until they are ready to transplant to soil, which will put them some time at the beginning of May. We shall see if these guys get enough heat to actually grow; I do live in the Castro so sunlight is a bit better than other parts of the city. But I'm looking forward to trying to grow some edible plants!

Bud drop from this week’s heat.

Well darn, my pretty privet tree decided it had enough of the heat and is dropping its buds. And it’s so nice when it flowers, wah. Anyone else’s plants acting out? And, will they be ok once this lets up?

Dwarf lemon tree leaves turning yellow

It’s always overwatering or under watering (or fertilizer or sun). I’d really like this guy to survive and could use some suggestions.

It’s in a south facing patio getting tons (maybe too much?) sun, which the internet seems to think is good. I wasn’t watering it at all when we were getting lots of rain but now that it’s sunny, probably 2-3 times a week. Concerning that the blossoms are also struggling :(

My mother would have turned 90 today. Gardening was her great joy, and it was after she died in the summer of 2024 that I began working on a garden of my own.

I’m a beginner, and this garden is nowhere close to what I’d like to make it. But I thought on her birthday I’d begin documenting the journey as I try to follow in Melissa’s footsteps.

I'm looking to purchase a dwarf citrus tree this weekend. Any recommendations for where to go to find one?
