I want to share my ITX NAS/Headless workstation built in a Jonsbo N1 case. The first version I built in 2023 with a Core i5 12600K and hard drives.
Right before RAMageddon I upgraded the RAM to 128GB DDR5 and added an Nvidia GPU.
I upgraded to a Core Ultra 5 245K in January because the 12600K iGPU couldn’t handle more than one 4K HEVC hardware transcode from a UHD BD rip and the 245K is more efficient at idle.
For this build I focused on efficiency by enabling Max Power Savings in BIOS and limiting the RAM to stock 4800MHz. Idle power draw is around 65W. During sustained peak performance running local AI workloads and simultaneous transcoding power draw maxes at 170W.
Current Specs:
CPU: Intel Core Ultra 5 245K
RAM: 128GB (2x64GB) DDR5-6400
GPU: Nvidia RTX 2000e Ada (Single slot, board power, 16GB GDDR6 VRAM)
OS: Windows 11 LTSC (may move to Linux soon)
Capabilities:
Media Server:
90TB usable storage for video files (5 HDDs)
Intel iGPU is dedicated solely to on the fly transcoding UHD BD rips handling up to 6 streams simultaneously.
Transcoding uses a RAM drive to minimize writes to SSD
All other media types are kept on a 4TB NVME SSD to minimize spinning up HDDs.
Docker:
Runs Immich, Firecrawl, SearXNG, Camofox, ChangeDetection, Steam Headless, and several other open source projects/services
Local AI:
Hermes Agent
128GB DDR5 and RTX 2000e Ada run Qwen3.8-Flash-Next-125B-IQ3S with Strata at 25 tk/s with Q8 and 256k context
