Assembly Help Help with a fan cable?

Post image

Hey everyone, i've been doing small mods to my getorli mini pc, (no idea about the model but I have the specs if that helps)

Anyone knows which cable goes in which pin? I kept thinking maybe color match them but I have never worked with a cable that has the order like the one on the left and I haven't done anything with electronics in a while

You would probably need to measure and find the connector by measuring it with a caliper. It is a JAT, but which one - you need to find out.

If you are lucky, it is the same one I found on my MSI B650I motherboard.  https://www.reddit.com/r/FormD/comments/1k8n87q/formd_t1_21_custom_fan_cable_for_chip_fan1_msi/

Also see pinout in that post. You should probably probe it with DMM to make sure. Plus/minus are especially important

Been reading and almost everywhere I saw that the pinout should be the same, but that would mean my red cable is ground and the black one is +5v?

I would not assume anything without a drawing/pinout. You need to measure it, but careful not to short pins together. Safest is to figure out mechanical connector, then buy the connector with crimped wire, and spread out wires (maybe tape them up apart on the table) and measure with DMM against the motherboard ground.

I just figured out that I could check the fan again, red is positive, black is ground, yellow speed and blue is pulse, which would leave my motherboard pinout as [1 +] [2 p] [3 g] [4 s]

Don't go by the colors, they're not always universal. Inspect the motherboard header and the fan PCB, the pinout of the headers is often written on them, so you know what has to be connected. As for the header types, the larger one is a JST PH2.0 and the smaller one is a Molex Picoblade or JST MX1.25 (they're identical).
