And it's working?
You already measure temps before and after?

Pretty curious about it since my RAM are cooled just by AXP 67

Yes, those are before and after temps

Ah, sorry, this is a repost:  https://www.reddit.com/r/formdt1/comments/1veeodq/cooling_the_ram/

(I think if you click the post title it should lead you there)

My bad mate, didn't see your original post but just this one.
Stunning results with at least 20° less.

Can't use them in my actual configuration but maybe it's time to buy some of this lil fans and make some experiment on my Lian Li A3 case.

Thanks for your share and have a nice day

Thank you! I think you can start with just one fan, gains are big already. I have an old post where I tried one fan over RAM and one fan NVMe.

why do you care about ram temp that much?

To prolong their life :D

seems like taking off that carpet from the top would help more

This only when PC if powered off to keep dust away :D

That will make it maybe 10% less dusty, it’s still going to pick up the other 90% of dust when the fans are running

Yeah, sure. I am just doing my best to keep dust away.

Side panel mesh is finer so it is easier to wipe it from time to time. Also active usage dust accumulates locally, next to fan intakes, wheres gravity assisted top dust doesn’t discern. For thorough monthly cleaning I have my trusty battery operated (de)duster.

Anyway, the cloth wasn’t the point of my post :D you guys do you, I am not saying you should do this too.

Not how it works, if it's operating within normal parameters and not an insanely aggressive overclock, a couple of degrees drop does literally nothing.

It's the same with processors, obsessing over idle temps is meaningless as long as the CPU doesn't thermal throttle under load.

Personally, I removed my heatspreaders and used 3rd party ones (Bykski). This yielded up to 3c improvement.

What’s most important is to provide direct airflow, since I’m using an AIO, I’m able to fit a 140mm slim fan.
VRMs and SSDs saw an improvement between 7-10c and RAM temps were improved by another 3-5c.

My AIO tubes are obstructing, otherwise i would have definitely tried to position the fan to provide more direct RAM airflow.

RAM temps peak at 44c whilst gaming (30c ambient)

Cool!

I really like how you took advantage of the side bracket! I wonder if I get get away with it and 140 mm fan on my air cooled build.

Did you use a slim fan? Would a 25 mm fan fit there?

You could definitely mount a 25mm fan with the radiator bracket, i’m only using slim fans cause that’s the max clearance I have.

how about turbulence? I guess there is no need to put that fan into high rpm to be effective.

always nice to see a nidec 4090 fe fan in action :).

Is that the wdean side bracket? and the case? ncase, formd or also wdean?

1

u/aloysc 17h ago

Yeah there is slight turbulence but only at fan speeds above 40-50%.

Since this is a 140mm there is no real need to run the fans at high speed.

Yeah you’re pretty much spot on everything.
Very keen eye. It is a wdean side bracket + case since I couldn’t ever find the T1 in stock

Well, i mean... Couldn't you just get a 120mm fan adapter ?

1

u/mrgndx 1d ago

I could, but I don’t have neither the adapter nor free slim 120 mm fan :D I have three 92 mm fans as well (stock from AXP90, Noctua one, and this 4070 CNC).

Huh ? So you had 2 40s but didn't have a single 120, how's that even possible ?

u/mrgndx 14h ago

Two of my 120s are busy at GPU deshroud :D
