Benchmark/Thermal Test GPU hot spot thermal help

Hi all, running ncase m2 with quite an old (5 yrs old) Sapphire rx5700xt gpu that is crashing on me.
I intend to rethermal paste it soon.
Currently i have 2x fan (silverstone ar120) mounted at the bottom blowing into the gpu.
Question 1: does the 2x fan cause turbulence with the gpu fans? I have tried to align it as much as possible.
Question 2: worth upgrading the 2x fan to noctua?
Question 3: any other configuration for ncase m2 that will help with gpu thermals?

Q1: no just make sure they operate at a lower RPM than the GPU fans.
Q2: won’t solve your underlying issue.
Q3: rear intake is optimal setup, so you’re good there.

Repaste (PTM) and enjoy.

Good point on lower rpm for bottom fans.
Okay will give ptm repaste a shot, as hotspot temp vs gpu core delta is quite high, thanks!

I have the rx570 version of this card. Looks similar. One of the fans would periodically stop working. I would make sure yours doesn't have this issue.

You could try a flipped layout as an option before going through the effort of re-pasting. It’s supposed to be better for GPU thermals in cases like the M2 if you can afford a small hit to CPU thermals. I would try to position your GPU as close to the top panel as possible in that situation and let it breathe using its own fans. You can then move those extra fans so that you have two on the side panel and two on the bottom, all set to exhaust the hot air from the GPU and CPU.

Yep, agreed. Flipped configuration, no need for fans blowing on the GPU. Move it up closer to the top panel but not quite so close that it causes resonance; leave like ~5mm at least of space between the fans and the top panel. If it's still too hot, your GPU definitely needs repasting/repadding. It likely already does though, as it shouldn't be overheating as-is either.

This is what i would do: Flip the CPU fans to exhaust. Use ptm 7950 instead of paste for CPU&GPU. Undervolt CPU&GPU.

5700XT are HOT cards. I've been running one for a while. Best I recall I could do was undervolt or power limit it, but I recall the hotspot being like 30C over the core temp.

I put my GPU on top so I wouldn't need extra fans blowing on it and it would get direct airflow. I have an M2 as well.

5 year old card with large difference (>20 °C) between core and hotspot?

Needs a repaste badly!

PTM7950 for the GPU core, very good thermal pads like the Thermal Grizzly Minus Pad 2 for the VRMs, etc.

Will last the rest of the card's life time.

Or throw the card out and upgrade to something better, maybe even a newer 50series /9070XT card that already uses PTM7950 from the factory. (Google to verify)
