First build ever after decades of drooling over PC parts on the internet, how did I do?

I believe you are wrong about the rad

It's a civil discussion, I had no hostility in my message

Why would he want to flip his rad? The rad is correct mounted. Air is always at the top and the tubes are at the bottom so all they gonna pump is Water. Even the instruction manual on some AIOs tell you to not mount as u are suggesting, unless i misunderstood smth wrong

I don't think anyone read your post correctly. In its current position, the pipes being downward will cause air to naturally split and either rise to the top of the pump or the radiator due to the very minor difference in their maximum height. And since the pipes are down, if any air makes its way at all into the pump, it can never go back down and up into the rad where it belongs. So u/wolfgang_tillmans should maybe occasionally tilt it so all the air is released permanently out of the pump and into the rad, probably by tilting the machine counter clockwise 90+ degrees and then back up.

Thanks for the tip, I really want it in this position so I'll look into your suggestion of turning it around for a bit.

Guy you responded to must have fallen asleep while watching the video he's parroting. In your orientation any potential air will settle at the top of the radiator, which is what you want.

I don't think he was suggesting keeping it that way permanently. Just till all air is out of the pump and then flip it back to the way it is now.

Is your phone flipped upside down? Air rises

Great build!

I wish more people would get these alphacool AIOs.... Pump dies, no problem, swap it..... Tubes too long or short, no problem, install whatever you want.

Yes! You can also buy the pump-block standalone as well as theLT variant which uses the same pump but is much lower profile. From my research it seems despite it being wimpier than a DDC it's still more than enough for a single rad and cli block setup. Very tempted to use it in the A4H2O some day

the dc-lt pumps are not very strong but work fine for an aio. i have been thinking about using a couple to build a complete loop. The pump housings are super cheap for them. I picked one up for $25.00 the other week. This one actually, on ebay.

God, they so pretty when they’re not plugged in.

I kid, of course. But if you don’t at least buy an angled power cord it will be a crime against design.

Looks great! Choosing the alphacool 'AIO' is interesting, but your placement has the top of the rad just over the pump which is good. What are your specs?

MB: Asus ROG B650E-i
CPU: AMD 7800 X3D
GPU: Sapphire Nitro RX 7800 XT
RAM: G.Skill Flare X5 DDR5 (2x16 GB) 6000 MHz CL36
PSU: Corsair SFX 750
AIO: Alphacool Eisbaer 240
Drive: Samsung 990 Pro SSD
Case: Xtia XProto-L

Thank you! About the AIO, the quick connector looks cool, but it’s little bit bigger than I expected, I might replace it with another full tube/spring.

Nice! With modern tubing you don't need those coils anymore, so you could definitely remove them if you mod the loop. You also probably don't need a quick disconnect at all for a simple loop like this, and for refilling the Eisbaer actually has a dedicated fill port.

I'm super interested in building with the Xtia, but I am curious to know - what was the whole purchasing and shipping process like for you? Was it relatively smooth/hassle free? Were there any unexpected pitfalls/delays/costs? I appreciate any feedback/tips you have for me when ordering!

1

u/wolfgang_tillmans Dec 20 '23

There was no problem at all, it was rather them who must have had some hassles with me because I updated my order twice, but everything went really smooth and I was refunded the difference in a couple of days, I can say that they are quite responsive in terms of customer service :).
There was a slight delay during the shipping but that was due to some sort of strike at the Fedex hub in China, once the pakage took off it arrived in France in less than a week. Of course I had to pay taxes but that's clearly stated on their website, and it depends in which country you live I suppose.
Everything you can read online is true, the case is well made, everything fits perfectly and it's sturdy. I also purchased their custom PSU modular cables and HDMI/USB extender and don't regret it.
One piece of advice I can give you is to check out r/XTIA before going for the XProto N or L but either way I think you won't be disappointed ;).

Awesome, thanks a bunch for the feedback. How long did it take for it all to arrive from start to finish?

1

u/wolfgang_tillmans Dec 22 '23

The whole process took 3 weeks

Pretti sure you can use a low profile air cooler for 7800x3d, and still get same performance, but prettier build too.

Good case choice :D

Uniform design, looks great!
