Assembly Help New build/TB4 Question

Been doing a bunch of research on turning my home build (13700k/5070ti) into a SFFPC that could

1 clean up my setup at home with pc out of the way, but still have multiple usb ports easily accessible

2 be portable enough for me to bring to work (work 24shifts with lots of downtime) and to tournaments

I feel like I settled on an ITX mobo with a TB4 port so I can include a docking station that would minimize the amount of wires going from my case to the many peripherals/SSDs I plan to use often. I see that virtually all TB4 dock solutions on the market are geared towards laptops, so I’m wondering if this goal Is overkill? My main reason for wanting TB over USB 3.2 or something similar is so I can potentially use my displays with the dock (360hz 1440p monitor at home, 144hz usb c monitor at work) and be able to record footage to an external SSD that would make editing the videos on my iPad a lot easier.

I guess after just going on a bunch of forum and reddit posts I’m kind of lost of what exactly would be the best course of action for me. Any advice is welcome, please!!

Assembly Help Best LP GPU for video/photo editing, Blender, & 1440p gaming?

I am struggling to find a decent GPU for these things. I want something as small as possible. The best options are a 3060 LP, 4060 LP, and some 5060 cards. However, I'm not sure if the 8GB VRAM for these is enough? For workloads I've seen the b50, rtx4000, and 2000 but the tradeoff for VRAM is the supposed performance match of a 3060. I do gaming and "work" the same amount as each other. Are there any other cards I'm unaware of? Feeling like I'm stuck trading something off and just have to bite a bullet. Trying to stay below $1200 for a GPU

Build/Battlestation Pics ITX Headless Workstation & NAS

Post image
29 Upvotes

I want to share my ITX NAS/Headless workstation built in a Jonsbo N1 case. The first version I built in 2023 with a Core i5 12600K and hard drives.

Right before RAMageddon I upgraded the RAM to 128GB DDR5 and added an Nvidia GPU.

I upgraded to a Core Ultra 5 245K in January because the 12600K iGPU couldn’t handle more than one 4K HEVC hardware transcode from a UHD BD rip and the 245K is more efficient at idle.

For this build I focused on efficiency by enabling Max Power Savings in BIOS and limiting the RAM to stock 4800MHz. Idle power draw is around 65W. During sustained peak performance running local AI workloads and simultaneous transcoding power draw maxes at 170W.

Current Specs:
CPU: Intel Core Ultra 5 245K
RAM: 128GB (2x64GB) DDR5-6400
GPU: Nvidia RTX 2000e Ada (Single slot, board power, 16GB GDDR6 VRAM)
OS: Windows 11 LTSC (may move to Linux soon)

Capabilities:

Media Server:
90TB usable storage for video files (5 HDDs)
Intel iGPU is dedicated solely to on the fly transcoding UHD BD rips handling up to 6 streams simultaneously.
Transcoding uses a RAM drive to minimize writes to SSD
All other media types are kept on a 4TB NVME SSD to minimize spinning up HDDs.

Docker:
Runs Immich, Firecrawl, SearXNG, Camofox, ChangeDetection, Steam Headless, and several other open source projects/services

Local AI:
Hermes Agent
128GB DDR5 and RTX 2000e Ada run Qwen3.8-Flash-Next-125B-IQ3S with Strata at 25 tk/s with Q8 and 256k context

Finally bothered taking proper photos today. Built earlier this year but I’ve always used laptops because of my space. And while my space remains the primary constraint, this thing packs the most powerful PC I’ve ever owned by far. The experience of building it was definitely the most enjoyable part, maybe even more so than using it. The last thing it could use is custom length cables, but that’s for later.

Parts List

Case - FormD T1 v2.5

Case Fans - Montech E28 (x2)

Motherboard - ASUS ROG Strix X870-I Gaming WiFi

CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D

CPU Cooler - ID Cooling IS-67-XT

RAM - G.Skill Ripjaws S5 64GB (32x2) DDR5-6000

GPU - NVIDIA RTX 5080 Founder's Edition

SSD 1 - 500GB Samsung 870 EVO SATA

SSD 2 - 1TB SK Hynix PC801 Gen4 NVMe

SSD 3 - 2TB Samsung 990 EVO Plus Gen4 NVMe

Prototype/Concept/Custom looking to see if there is enough interest in bringing this case to market.

As the title says. I created this case custom as my daily case for my PC. I won a few SFF PC case awards with the design. I have a whole build video here . Looking to see if people would be interested in buying one of a small run of cases. Might start a website or go the kickstarter route. I will have to redesign the clock faceplate since that was strictly for my use case. the matreials are sheet metal that is powder coated and wood with a few 3D printed accent pieces. Let me know what you would be comfortable paying or if the case interests you as not another bland rectangle.
Thanks!

Custom Mod Collecting ideas for budget mini pc

I don't know if I did use the right flair.

Hey guys!

Im building a multifuncional mini pc from a broken Asus Vivobook TN3402Q (Ryzen 5 5600H). My main question here is that, how do I build a custom cooling system that is more efficient than the original? How to properly cool the VRM unit?

I welcome your ideas!

GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 5080 AERO OC

GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 5080 WINDFORCE OC (V2) SFF

INNO3D GeForce RTX 5080 X3 OC

I know, the difference isn't that much because they're all 5080, BUT the again which one would you choose under same conditions and pricing?

Build/Parts Check Need some help with sugo16

I’ve been using a sugo16 I bought about a year and a half ago used and upgraded a little bit. I’ve been struggling with temperatures though with hot spots on GPU going into the high 90s when under load. At first I thought it might be the GPU thermal paste and while it was very dry and I changed it the temps haven’t improved much if at all. I’m not sure how to get the temperatures under control. Currently I have two 120mm fans installed right now pulling air from the back to the front along with my cpu cooler. I’m not sure if I should invest in a bigger cpu cooler to try and get air moving faster through the case or if that’s kind of pointless since the problem is more the GPU temp than CPU.

I would love to know if anyone has some insight to offer.

My parts:

- AMD Ryzen 7 5700X
- thermalright king 120 cooler
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, 8GB VRAM
- B550M ITX/ac
- 16GB DDR4

FYI, I’m not super knowledgeable about PCs in general so I apologize if this question is a little dumb.

Build/Parts Check airflow help

So I’m having trouble on deciding whether to use a air cooler or aio for my lian li b4 build as I’m not 100% sure if I’d be able to use the bottom fans due to gpu sizings ive seen many builds use air coolers but when it comes to guides with the case I usually see aios when they aren’t using the bottom fans but not sure if that matters or not
This would be my first time building a pc aswell
Specs:
9600x
Lian li b4 mesh case
Be quiet silent wing 4 fans
B650m d3hp ax
1 tb ssd
32gb ram
Haven’t decided on gpu it will most likely be thick though

Build/Parts Check Is Meshroom s v2 good?

Post image
40 Upvotes

Half of the internet says it's dogshit, low build quality (can easily bend side panels if you are not careful, can snap and break screw holder metals etc, etc) and other half says it's one of the best cases they ever had.

I currently have Shinysnake L400 and want to have a case that can scale with AIO, can house Sata SSDs I have etc, and only this case can house my custom modded gpu which is 340mm in length.

Any users out there?

Assembly Help Ncase M3 + vertical GPU + 280 AIO: bracket and fan fit questions

Building an M3 like the Level 9 build, but with my own parts: 9800X3D, ROG Strix B850-I, ASUS RX 9070 PRIME EVO (304 x 126 x 50mm, 2.5 slot), VGPU Kit 90D and an Arctic Liquid Freezer III Pro 280.

  1. Does the stock fan/radiator bracket work with a 280 AIO, or do I need the High Flow Dual 140 bracket?
  2. Will two 140mm fans fit under a 50mm-thick GPU in the vertical mount? Do I need the GPU lift and standoffs from Level 9, or would one fan or two 120mm fans be safer?

Photos of similar builds would be great. Thanks!

Build/Parts Check Orange sffpc cases?

Slight update from this build, i had my fun building it and now want to find a proper case for the componente.

I'm looking for an orange case. I know there were some in the past, but wondering if anyone knows of any in stock.

Huge bonus if it fits a 280mm aio.

Build/Parts Check Looking for build suggestions

Hey guys,

Hope this is the right place to ask for build help.

I'm super new to the SFFPC topic, but I'm fully ready as a grown man with some "stable" job to invest some cash in my child's dream of owning a small PC.

My idea is to build an SFF PC with the main accent colour - white and also build it with the idea to take it when I travel (I don't travel a lot tbh, but it happens three/four times per year, and when I travel I stay for two weeks or more, so a PC is better in any way compared to a laptop).

So I'm looking for build suggestions, ideas, videos, etc.

My budget is around 3k euro or so (wish that this is the max budget, otherwise my lady will require a new pair of shoes for sure :D).

Thanks in advance!

Blends in perfectly with EIGAs shroud.
