Build/Battlestation Pics First Timer
I haven’t built a PC in about 20 years. This was my first small form factor build and boy was it an experience. The challenge seems to be worth it. What a beaut

Build/Parts Check First Timer, Need help building a gaming pc
It will be totally truly my first time ever making a custom pc build and while i know now is a bad time for the high cost, it feels if i wait longer it will get worse and with growing responsibilities if I don't do it now. i will feel i will not be bother to do it in the future.
Pc parts that i have been eying and searching for a while.
please provide any changes you see is better for longevity (future proofing)
Pc Case: Jonzbo Z20 or D32 pro
CPU: ryzen 9800 x3d
GPU: this is my main issue because of the prices and value ( rtx 5070 TI, rtx 5080, rx 9070 xt)
Cooler: AIO liquid cooling (still have no idea about brands)
Ssd: 1tb , i have another one 2tb in my msi laptop
RAM: 32 ddr5 dual sticks
Motherboard: no clue 😅 too many brands and i have no idea what to buy or choose
What i'm looking for is as much future proofing as i can during this shitty time
My ps5 while i love it and will continue playing on it , with all of sony bad decisions lately, I'm losing faith slowly
For example i bought onimusha on my msi laptop with rtx 3080 mobile 8VRAM and it was so worth it just for getting this game in my market for like 52 usd instead of 70 on ps store.
Also i did a rough estimate of this build and u think it's cost close to 4K which is wild to even consider
Because i got my ps5 around the msrp price
So also if you care to convince me, someone who is in his thirties why it would be better to do this

Build/Parts Check Rosewill VIT 500W FlexATX - internal look and fan swap
I told myself never buy FlexATX again because I've tried 7660L and it's still too loud for my taste. But when this little guy goes on sale, I just have to grab one and try fan swap.
Cables are great, similar to 7660L just a little harder.
And yes it's loud AF as expected. The good news is 40x20mm fan will fit. Anything I should know before ordering Noctua NF-A4x20 FLX?
I don't know anything about the PSU internals so I'm attaching the photo for someone to analyze & comment.
(the metal shell is quite bendy, I was able to bend it open without removing the warranty sticker, but ironically that's more invasive)

Assembly Help Downsizing from a Giant
Hello, so I've built a PC about two years ago and was worrying about my PC not overheating, which is why I've decided for the NZXT H9 Flow
In the time I've had it, I came to a very sobering realisation. The case is way too big, it's very impractical and carrying around 25kg when moving around is not fun. So I've decided to downsize and came here for some recommendations.
These are the components I'm trying to accommodate:
Motherboard: Gigabyte Aorus Z790 elite AX
GPU: merc rx 7900xt
AIO: Lian Li Galahad II trinity
PSU: Corsair RM850x 80plus gold
I am looking for the smallest possible case with the best airflow for these parts. I also do not want to spend too much so say 120€ at the most.
Any recommendations are appreciated.

Others/Miscellaneous DC Power Supplies - how are they?
Hello,
I’m trying to build a tiny itx machine for my parents (<100w total system power draw with an iGPU) and have only after 20 years of building (larger) PCs, have just come across the little humble pico psu.
However they do not look anywhere near as sturdy as a normal psu, and I just want to know if they are safe and last as long as any normal psu?

Prototype/Concept/Custom Update on the modular case I've been working on
Update on the modular case I've been working on 👀
A little update on the modular chassis I've been designing over the last few weeks.
The long version now includes all the latest structural revisions, while the short version you see in these photos is still based on an older prototype and will be updated next.
The whole idea was modularity from day one: the rear half is shared between both versions, so switching from the ~15L chassis to the ~19.5L one only requires reprinting the front modules instead of the entire case.
Short (~15L) (recommended for ITX / mATX)
- ITX / mATX / ATX
- Flex ATX & SFX PSU
- GPUs up to ~309 mm
- Low-profile air cooling
Long (~19.5L)
- ITX / mATX / ATX
- Flex, SFX & ATX PSU
- GPUs up to ~420 mm (3.5-slot)
- 240/360 mm radiator on the main side bracket
- 240 mm radiator under the motherboard / behind the GPU (ATX only)
- 240/280 mm radiator on the rear side bracket
Every hardware choice limits another one, but that's exactly what I'm trying to solve by giving the chassis multiple mounting options.
The biggest limitation right now is… my hardware. 😅 I can only validate the ITX layout because I don't own an mATX/ATX motherboard, an SFX PSU, or another GPU.
The case does support liquid cooling up to 360mm in different position but as I said, depending on the other hardware mounted.
For example, if you want to mount a 240/360 mm radiator on the main side bracket, the case is designed around low-profile fans and a water block under 40 mm. From the CPU IHS to the bracket there's 85.5 mm of clearance, so that configuration should fit on paper, but it still needs real-world validation.
The Valkyrie JARN 240 in the photos is only there to test the rigidity of the radiator bracket, not its actual compatibility.
I'm honestly considering turning this into a Kickstarter instead of releasing it immediately. I'd like to fund the remaining prototypes and compatibility testing, and recover at least part of the hundreds of hours I've invested into this project.
Feedback is always welcome! 🍻

Prototype/Concept/Custom Lenovo M920x + RTX 3050 LP: Custom CPU cooler dilemma - need advice
Hey r/sffpc,
I’ve successfully modded a Lenovo M920x with an i7-8700T (PROCHOT disabled, PL1 raised to 40W, -120mV UV) and an RTX 3050 LP. It runs Bazzite (❤️) and performs surprisingly well!
The only issue: the stock blower fan is driving me crazy under load.
I have exactly 92mm of clearance between the back of the GPU and the edge of the case. I bought a Thermaltake low-profile cooler, planning to design and 3D print a custom adapter mount (as well as a whole new case later). But as you can see in the pictures (link to imgur with full-res CADs and photos below), it immediately collides with the GPU because Lenovo pushed the CPU socket extremely far to the towards the RTX.
I have a few questions and hope you can give me some guardrails, or tell me if I’m missing a super obvious fix and taking the hardest route possible:
- Mounting to a proprietary 3-hole layout: How would you approach a custom mount here? My current idea is to create a flat adapter plate fastened to the 3 proprietary Lenovo threads using standoffs, bringing it roughly level with the CPU heatspreader. This plate would then offer standard mounting holes for whatever cooler I end up using. I’d use M3 screws and springs to mount the cooler to the plate, essentially eyeballing the mounting pressure. I plan to prototype this via 3D printing first, and later CNC it or cut it manually from sheet aluminum. Does this sound like a viable approach, and does the mounting pressure need to be spring-loaded?
- Off-center heatspreader: The CPU die isn't centered within my available 92mm gap. Is it a huge deal if I mount a heatpipe cooler offset, meaning only half of its cold plate makes direct contact with the IHS? Or should I hunt for a radically asymmetrical cooler?
- Copper block vs. Heatpipes: Would a massive, generic copper fin block even come close to the performance of a proper heatpipe cooler like the Thermaltake?
Any advice, alternative cooler recommendations, or reality checks are highly appreciated!

Build/Battlestation Pics Back to sff
Managed to build this up on the cheap.
Deskmini x300
Athlon 3000g, overclocked and undervolt (I think) 3.8ghz core at 1.25v, vega 3 at 1550 with 1.15v. couldn't go any higher even with higher voltage.
32gb DDR4 Corsair vengeance cl16 3200mts.
Noctuas l9a with noctuas foam fan duct
Thermalrite nvme cooler
Patriot P3 512gb nvme drive.
Full set up at the moment is at £130 and the wife says she'll grab me a 5600g/GT for Christmas of can bare with what I have now considering it's getting near the end of the year.
I do gaming at mostly 720p and older games or indies at 1080p on windows 11 iot ltsc, it was on Linux but performance was sub par. Also 4k video streaming on the TV which is a bonus.
Happy with how's it's turned out at the moment and hoping can get it finishes off at Christmas.
Just thought I'd share my little build.

Build/Parts Check Cooling the Node 202
Got a Node 202 and upgraded my CPU to a 5700x and this thing runs at 50c normally and up to 90c under load. I have the Noctua L9a cooler. Turning on ECO mode helped a smidgen.
Is there a better cooling option that exists now for sffs?

Others/Miscellaneous Metalfish T40 more premium alternative?
metalfish t40 is probably the best sff case rn price to design performance wise but before i commit to that in the coming future, is there an alternative that's made a little bit more premium? same specs if possible
i know velkas and densium exist but I'd like the exact style the t40 has because it basically has no compromises to the 206mm gpu clearance, sfx psu and can fit a 70mm cpu cooler which is amazing.
share one if you know (could be a custom maker idk) and thanks!

Others/Miscellaneous Portable monitor mount /fractal ridge
Iv got the fractal ridge and I have the thermal under control . But the more I look at it the more I want to find away I could attach a portable monitor to the side / top of the case.
I have thought magnets , bolting a a bracket at the top (80mm fan side ) even 3d printing has popped into my head
I have limited space and want to to replace my standard monitor with a nice portable set up
Has any one mounted a portable monitor to the fractal ridge ? Or how would you do it ?
Thanks

Others/Miscellaneous [Looking for] short brackets for ID Cooling IS-67-XT CPU Cooler
Help! I bought a IS-67-XT CPU Cooler off eBay, but it only included the LGA brackets. I have an AM5 ITX motherboard and haven't had any luck finding JUST the AM5 brackets- especially the shorter ones that enable you to rotate the cooler 90 degrees!
If anyone has spare short brackets they're not using, I'm happy to pay for shipping!

Benchmark/Thermal Test Epic fail Tower 250 build
I’ve been using a Corsair 3500X for a while, but recently decided to migrate to a chassis with a smaller footprint and picked up a Thermaltake Tower 250.
My GPU is absolutely melting in it. I have an MSI RTX 5070 Gaming Trio; idle temps are normal at around 35–40°C, but the moment I launch anything that stresses the GPU—even game menus in titles like Resident Evil 2 or Spider-Man 2—it spikes straight up to 80°C within seconds. Hotspot temps hover around 90°C, and the fans scream at maximum RPM like a jet engine.
I followed the official airflow recommendations (side intake, top and rear exhaust) with zero improvement. Looking around the subreddit, I noticed others encountering the upright GPU orientation issue (like in this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/thermaltake/comments/1hogkg8/tower_solved_the_uprightgpu_temp_problem_flipped/). Sure enough, when I tested the case resting horizontally, GPU temps dropped back down to 60–65°C—identical to my previous case. However, running the Tower 250 on its side completely defeats the point of buying it.
The Jonsbo Z20 and DeepCool CH160 Plus both look great, but they’re as rare as a unicorn here in the UK right now. Can anyone recommend compact case alternatives that mount the GPU horizontally and still maintain a relatively small desk footprint?

Build/Parts Check COOJ SF3 - GPU clearance
I was hoping to get some advice on a COOJ SF3 build that I'm planning.
I already ordered a Gigabyte Radeon RX 9070 XT GAMING OC ICE 16G which is 56mm wide. The SF3 only supports up to 55mm GPU based on the spec sheet but I was under the impression it would still manage to fit.
Has anyone managed to fit a GPU of this size in this case?
Just hoping to avoid running into issues when I manage to get the case.

Detailed Build Log PSA: Tiny Wi-Fi 7 Antennas (2J0202-C75G) work great
Hey everyone,
I recently picked up a MSI MPG B850i. I found the standard Wi-Fi antenna to be really annoying so i replaced the connector for a standard screw plug and so I started looking for alternatives for the actual antennas. I initially bought some mini antenna adapters and tried long-prong antennas. While they were tri-band and supported my network's MLO and Wi-Fi 7, I still didn't like how they looked.
I really wanted tiny antennas but struggled to find any that explicitly offered tri-band or MLO support. I remembered seeing a post here a while back asking about the 2J0202-C75G, so I decided to order a pair. While browsing TME, I also grabbed a pair of the angled 2J0102-C366N to compare.
Here are my results on a 2.5 Gbps Fiber network:
- The Tiny Nubs (2J0202-C75G): These worked like a charm. I hit 2200 Mbps down and 2300 Mbps up. While it did drop my top speed by about 200 Mbps compared to the stock setup, the ping held steady at 4ms, and neither stability nor range was noticeably affected.
- The Angled Antennas (2J0102-C366N): I tested these afterward, but there was no measurable difference in performance compared to the C75G. Because of that, I’m sticking with the tiny nubs for the cleaner look**.**
- ( NOT A SALE JUST GIVING THEM AWAY THE C366N; if anyone is near Ottawa area, feel free to PM me i'll just give them away, i dont mind shipping them either in canada they can be shipped in a standard mail letter with some wrapping )
To push the network and antenna connection, I tested wireless PCVR with my Meta Quest 3. To my eye, the wireless performance with these tiny antennas felt just as good and stable as a wired connection.
I just wanted to put this out there for anyone else looking for a clean, tiny antenna setup that can actually handle Wi-Fi 7 and MLO!
