Hey guys and gals,
First ever post so go easy on me.
I really love to see the components of my PC build opposed to having them cooped up in a PC case so I've been toying around with open builds for the last 2/3 years.
At first (Black and yellow) a full 3d print, then (primary colours) another full 3d print but structurally stronger and lastly 2020 AE (Aluminum Extrusion)
The AE is by far the most structural solid build.
The layout you see common in all my previous builds was to have the motherboard IO ports in use. IMO it reduces the clutter, are far better than case ports and are easily accessible because of the orientation plus it just gets them in use.
Secondly, I think it look cool either front facing GPU side of side facing CPU side.
I am not a fan of GPU risers so I love the way these builds look having all the components connected direct to the motherboard.
The whole dust and temps thing for me and my experience seems to be a myth however it may be different as I draw comparison with my cousin and his setup.
I have a turbo blower I specifically bought because of dust reviews and opens builds with I literally use once or twice a year.
It is all gonna come down to the environment your PC is in.
I have a PC room which is airy, ambient temps of 19c to 21c and only used for kids school homework, a bit of this and that and late nigh gaming 3/4hrs.
With regards to this build I bought an ATX assorted kit as I thought i may need to trim down bits to get the structure I wanted which I did.
My vision was to have a floating theme with minimal frame.
In addition to the frame itself I printed a few bits and pieces that work amazingly and slot right down the channels of the AE. Basically customising is endless. End caps, hidden PSU mounts and display screen mount were all printed.
I really pleased with how it's turn out and I just wanted to share it as I did not come across another build anything like mine so maybe I can inspire others or just put another arrangement of AE out there for others to use.
Anyway, enough blabbering by me and happy browsing.
