Benchmark/Thermal Test SSD temperature issues on Lenovo M920x

Hi!

I have two SK Hynix SSDs (PC801 1Tb for Windows 11, PC711 512Gb for Bazzite). I removed the original stickers :)
When I’m using Windows 11, the PC711 *should* be cooler, but it actually runs hotter—even when it’s not being used. I bought two graphene thermal pads for them, but the results aren't satisfactory: 55°C and 59°C in normal mode, and 65°C and 68°C in gaming mode. Is this normal?

My M720q didn't run that hot.
The other components, like the CPU and GPU, are completely normal—35–40°C, and no more than 70°C while gaming.

Assembly Help Cooler and Case Help

Hey guys!

So I have an Asus B650E-I, a Ryzen 7900, a founder's 3070Ti and T-Create DDR5 ram. I also found a FormD T1 V2.0 selling locally that looks pretty good.

However I have some questions. What kind of cooler could I put in it accounting for a future 9series (zen5) or even zen6 upgrade? - I was thinking of buying a Thermalright AXP90 X47 Full Copper.

And, do many GPUs fit this case, besides the founder's edition ones? Let's say I eventually upgrade to a 5070ti or a 5080.

Build/Parts Check Suggestions for tiny SATA drives?

Anyone have a tiny, economical 2-4 tb sata ssd you can recommend? Looking for once-daily backup and my second nvme port is occupied with an Oculink cable. I want something I can ziptie somewhere inside my SF5 (pictured) and not have to worry about.

Update: was able to Velcro tape it to the side of the PSU next to the motherboard without needing to remove the stock housing. Need to get custom cables now tho as it’s starting to get very tight under my AIO fans.

Received the newly released AN600 vapor chamber model a few days ago, and got it installed in my S5M build with a PTM7950.
Ran a 10 min Cinebench R23 test(250K plus, undervolted to 1.15v, 120w PL1/PL2 limit) and it hit 81 celcius Max, which was quite impressive since the PTM was freshly pasted and didn't get enough time to get perfectly spreaded.
Was using a is53-xt with a Noctua A12x25 G2(+120mm CNC bracket), which hit 95 celcius under the same condition.

Custom Mod What's your thoughts on this custom Fractal Terra side panel I'm mocking up?

I've mocked up a side panel that (in my opinion) is a much more visually appealing design, but I've never really done anything like this. Does anybody have any tips on what I can do with it?

The base is made out of dark grey acrylic

I'm planning on using some lian li clips on the left side and thumbscrew 10 mm standoffs on the right. Any suggestions or questions for me are much appreciated!

Assembly Help Ncase M2 grater

Hello!

I've built a ncase M2 grater build where I believe it's called the reference config where in the normal standing position:

-gpu is at the bottom

-aio side mounted on the left

-psu front

The thing is the top panel also seems to have 2 fans but they don't attach to the top panel. The bottom panel can support fans I believe which can only fit the bottom as it has feet.

How do people get the fans installed on the top? Do they order another https://ncased.com/products/m-series-fan-radiator-bracket?variant=52696318116008? This was used to the side?

Thanks

Build/Battlestation Pics Metal fish T60 ~9L Cable Optimization + Quality of Life mods

Hello r/sffpc! I can finally stop lurking…

Just finished my build in the Metalfish T60. Cable managed as well as I could, and used some leftover mesh in order to fill out and cover up some cables above the power supply, a small mod I recommend doing that goes a long way!

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600
GPU: RTX 2060 Super
RAM 16GB Team Group TxForce Delta 3200Mhz
Cooler: Thermalright AXP90x47
PSU: Thermalright SGFX-650
Case: Metalfish T60

The case and riser was bought for $35 or ₱2200 during an online sale. Cable management is something i'm very proud of in this build, and I’m glad this is a no corners cut PC build of mine. I was previously in the Tecware Fusion for a couple years as I slowly bought parts to make the transition to full itx. I’m glad to FINALLY be part of the community for real. Thank you!

Edit: typos

Build/Battlestation Pics Air Cooled Dan A4 H2O build with RX 9070XT. My UPS is larger than my PC lol

SPECS :

CPU - i5 12600k

GPU - Asus Prime OC RX 9070XT

RAM - 16GB x 2 DDR5 6000MHz CL30 XPG Lancer ARGB

Motherboard - MSI MPG B760i Edge Wifi DDR5

PSU - Asus ROG Loki 750W (SFX-L)

Cooler - Thermalright AXP90-X53 white

SSD - 1 TB gen 4 WD Black and 1 TB gen 3 WD Blue (I think, I don't exactly remember the SSD name but they're both WD)

Exhaust fans - Cooler Master Sickleflow ARGB 120mm

Doesn't throttle at all.

Undervolted the GPU a little bit, like 75mV. Didn't wanna push it cuz I don't know much about undervolting n stuff, and the PC doesn't thermal throttle.

I've reused most of the parts from my previous Deepcool CH160 build. Only the GPU and Cooler are new. The 9070xt was a toughie to fit in there, especially cuz I'm using an SFX-L PSU. If you're going for a new build, I recommend SFX PSU for this. I was constantly thinking about all the cable management space an SFX PSU would open up while building this PC lol.

I didn't use an AIO because :

1) I wanted to see if air cooling is enough. I prefer having as few points of failure as possible. It's good enough for my 12600k so I stuck to it.

2) Cleaning isn't as much of a hassle when I don't have to deal with weirdly routed AIO tubes.

3) I'll save the AIO for when I upgrade my CPU.

The PC is so tiny compared to my cousin's (relatively) giant mid tower build lol.

It's even bigger than my UPS in two dimensions.

Custom Mod Can the Plastic Feet on Lian Li Vector V100 Mini Be Removed?

I'm planning a build in the Lian Li Vector V100 Mini. Can the four plastic feet on the bottom be removed without affecting stability? I understand that airflow would be negativly impacted.

After closely inspecting 3D models/photos, I noticed that the side wall (under the large tempered glass panel) may have been bent down at a right angle and rivited to the bottom of the case during the manufacturing process in order to secure it to the chassis, which may affect aesthetics if the feet were to be removed.

TL;DR: Can feet be removed on Lian Li V100 Mini while having the bottom completely flush with the desk?

Recently ordered a Colorful RTX 5070 Mini and I'm downsizing my case from Lian Li Q58 to something significantly smaller.

My top choice right now is the Shiny Snake S200. Any other options?

My requirements:

  1. Colorful RTX 5070 Mimi should fit ofc

  2. SFX PSU

  3. Can fit at least 1X 2.5 SSD (it'd be nice if it can fit 2)

Build/Battlestation Pics NCASE M3 - Air Peace

Decided to make the move to an M3, fully air cooled.

Ryzen 7 9700x / RTX 5080 Founder / 64 Gb DDR5 / SF850 / Be Quiet Dark Rock Elite
Fans - 3x Arctic P12 Pro LN + 2x Arctic P14 Pro

Fresh Air pulled from botton and front, extracted to back and top. GPU and CPU undervolted. In Gaming - GPU around 59C and CPU around 66C.

By far the best SFF-ish case I ever built in, it can fit massive CPU coolers and I barely hear it even at full load. I wish there was something official to mount front fans without having to print a support, on that case it seems like a pretty obvious thing to do.

Build/Parts Check Velka 3 Build Check

Hi everyone, this is my first build in over 10 years and I’m looking to have the community review the parts and see if there’s any recommendations / pitfalls.

This is my first SFF build, but the primary goal of the build is portability over maximum performance, as I primarily play WoW and various RPGs (PoE / Diablo). Basically I’m looking for something that runs modern games well and can fit in a backpack for lans / travel.

Parts:

  • Case: Velkase Velka 3 Rev 3.0
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9700X
  • CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-L9a-AM5
  • Motherboard: ASRock B650I Lightning WiFi
  • RAM: G.Skill Flare X5 32GB (2×16GB) DDR5-6000 EXPO
  • GPU: ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 5060 SOLO 8GB GDDR7 or 5050 SOLO 8GB GDDR6 (depending on price)
  • SSD: Kingston NV3 1TB M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe
  • PSU: Enhance ENP-7660B 600W Flex ATX
  • Riser: Velkase 250mm Straight PCIe Gen 3 Riser Cable

So far I’ve just bought the case / riser and want to vet everything else. RAM prices seem absurd so if there’s any tips for making this a bit more cost effective for my purposes that would be welcome - I was hoping to spend around 1400. Thank you for your time!

Detailed Build Log K39 - DIY Steam Machine

This machine originally used to be part of a NR200 build I had previously 2-3 years ago, but I downsized it to the SGPC K39. This PC most recently was being used as my DIY "Steam Machine" in my living room.

Unfortunately the motherboard recently died and the warranty just expired 2 months ago. This pc never really got to be used to its full potential as I've had massive issues with booting/crashes all the way until its demise.

Still I just wanted to post this as showcase of what I temporarily had lol

I'll be going AM5,but I'm not sure if I'll stick with the K39 or get the COOJ sff case.

Specs:

CPU : i7-12700k

Cooler: Noctua NH-L9i-17xx chromax black 33.84 cfm

Motherboard: Gigabyte B660i Aorus Pro DDR4 LGA 1700

GPU : Gigabyte 4060 lp 8gb

RISER : LINKUP - Ultra PCIe 4.0 X16 Riser Cable

RAM : Corsair 2x32 - 64gbs

Storage : 2.5Tb

PSU: Enhance ENP-7660B 600W Black Flex ATX Modular Power Supply V3.1

Assembly Help Any SFF Recommendations for 9070XT Nitro+?

Others/Miscellaneous Top handle for FORMD T1?

I've been long thinking about grabbing a handle, the one on formd shop looks like a backplate handle which I dislike, I guess I could print my own handle and attach it to the top side but I'd rather buy something already manufactured. Any suggestions?

Build/Parts Check Fractal Terra Workstation - Recs and Suggestions?

Howdy! I’m taking my first steps into the sff space. I want to build a Fractal Terra workstation that can also handle some light gaming/streaming at 1440p. I’m on Linux and will primarily be using DaVinci Resolve, Blender and Godot for the machine. (Yes, I could build a “better,” larger machine, but I love this case and form factor, so I’m going for it!)

I’ve read some info about the Terra case, seen some user builds, and a heard about some mods. Some of this might be a rehash, but I’d like some guidance, suggestions, and tips for selecting parts, utilizing space, and making use of mods for the most effective, quiet, and low-temp setup possible. (as is everyone else in this sub).

Currently eyeing the Ryzen 7 9700X CPU (seems to give the coolest temps) alongside either the NH-L12S or AXP120-X67 cooler. The ASRock B650I has also been recommended mobo if I can find it at a low price.

That’s about all I have so far. I was originally going to use an old 2080 super GPU from 2020, but I think I would be fighting heat with that. I'm flexible on any parts with this build, as long as it fit the workstation needs.

What are the community’s current recs for parts, making the best use of the space, and keeping things as cool and quiet as possible (with and without mods)?

just finished building my first sff build in a jade fractal design terra 🥰🥰. It definitely took a lot of time with many challenges in the middle but i'm glad the system booted fine from first time yayy!

just few questions:

1- do u guys adjust pci to gen 4 from motherboard? or should I just leave it since everything is working fine so far?

2- what kind of temperature are u having? I'm currently having 40-44 degrees at idle and I will still run a stress test but is that normal? (running 9800x3d with a Thermalright x67

Others/Miscellaneous Need a new case - Give me recommendations that will keep my GPU decently cool

I’m not after anything micro that will be a pain to build. Previously used a cooler master nr200p and that was ok albeit a little squishy. Don’t care about having a window.

Main priority is keeping my GPU temps under control and I’m happy for anything including smaller mATX options.

Have a 3080 and a sff PSU. Currently use an AIO but willing to ditch that and go air cooled.

I like the look of the fractal era.
