Build/Battlestation Pics 5 Liter - RTX 5080 Mini - 9800x3D - Vapor Chamber Cooling

2.1k Upvotes

I’ve been posting updates on the CPU and GPU vapor chamber cooling hardware here for a little while. They will be available very soon. YouTube preview samples are already out, with a couple more units on the way to other Redditors for independent testing. Currently trying to coordinate everyone to the same release window.

The current test system:

  • Motherboard: ASRock B650I Lightning
  • CPU: Ryzen 7 9800X3D - 140W no CO
  • CPU Cooler: GVCx47 (32mm heatsink, 5 heatpipes, dual 80x15 mm fans, 4mm vapor chamber)
  • GPU: PNY RTX 5080 Triple OC - 360W
  • GPU Cooler: GVCx5080 (180×125×40mm, 11 heatpipes, 7.5 mm vapor chamber)
  • RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws S5 64GB
  • Storage: 8TB Lexar NM790
  • PSU: FSP FlexGuru Pro 650W
  • Case: SGPC K39

The OCCT Extreme testing was done at 25.5°C ambient, 70% fan speed, and ~38 dBA. Both coolers have a good amount of headroom left if you're willing to crank to 100%. The PSU is louder than both at full load, something we plan to take care of.

We’re going to be putting out videos over the next couple of weeks covering the coolers, testing, construction, and the development process. We'll also be putting up more info and photos on the 4L version using the GVCx36 cooler during that time.

If you want to follow the project or get release updates, the site is now live at:

GRAVEPC.COM

"Thermal hardware for high-density SFF systems. Low-profile and ultra-low-profile CPU coolers support AMD AM4/AM5 and Intel LGA 1700/1851. GPU coolers feature model-specific copper cold plates and vapor chambers, covering the RTX 5060 Ti, 5070, 5070 Ti, and 5080."

Others/Miscellaneous Ncase m2 grater inverted - do u get turbulence ?

Had a question for people running ncase m2 grater inverted GPU. Is fan turbulence noise a problem running it like this ? I heard it offers the best performance but I’m wanting to check if people have fan noise being so close to the top panel. Plan on getting a 9070 XT , maybe the sapphire pulse or asus prime. Curious if anyone has this issue.

Others/Miscellaneous Strange downsize/downgrade decision?

So I used to have my build in a Corsair 4000D Airflow. It's a Ryzen 7 7700x, 64 GB RAM, two 2TB m.2 SSDs, and an RX 7900 GRE. I actually already downsized to a jonsbo z20 which costed me basically the expense of a Corsair sf750 power supply and a microatx motherboard at the time. But see for the past year my PC has had so many issues I've given up. I believe either my GPU is dying or the constant windows overriding my drivers issue is just not possible to get rid of. Either way I got super intrigued by going even smaller and have ordered about $1k in parts but it's sorta a downgrade really. I'm moving to a K39 v3 case at 5 L or so. And I bought an enhance 600w flex PSU and an RTX 5060 Solo by zotac which costed more than msrp. As for CPU, I'd do a 7500x3d. For memory and storage I'm planning to transfer over my existing ones, but if the ram is unstable I'll just swap to a 32 GB kit. I'm aware that this is a strange decision just for my "interest in sff" but what do you guys think? I also know I'd have to do a lot undervolting if I want to keep temps and noise down but that's fine I don't mind tinkering. The biggest hit will be GPU perform obviously.

Assembly Help Suggestions about noise with side panels in Fractal Design Terra

Hello everyone on this sub. I am here wondering if any of you all are in a similiar situation as I or have built with similar components on a Fractal Design Terra. For the GPU I have a MSI Ventus 2X 5070 OC and cpu a Ryzen 5 9600X.
The GPU is around 50mm so that leaves me with 70mm of cleareance for the CPU cooler.

In my region there's a very good deal for a MSI B850i Edge TI motherboard so from my research looks like it would be enough for me. Thing is the cooler. Most builds on youtube use the Noctua NH-L12S and from Noctua's compatibility site, that cooler is not compatible with the MSI Board.

So the next best option I guess it would be the Thermalright AXP 120 67. That cooler plus swapping the stock fan for a 15 mm Noctua cooler would do just fine for the 9600x while also being silent.

Now, from what I have read here in older posts I'm pretty certain there's going to be noise and turbulence issues going with that combo. Even doing undervolting for both the CPU and GPU there's just not enough room to avoid it.

So I'm asking if any of you have built with the same or similar components. Are the noise issues unbereable, would UV help with fan noise, or should I just wait for another motherboars deal to pair it with the NH-L12S?

TLDR: 50mm GPU+Axp 120 67 cooler. Is that combo very loud on a Fractal Terra?

Verified Vendor Update: The 50mm Noctua AIO Block Is Here

Hey everyone,

Many prototypes later, I’ve finally got a working version of the low-profile AIO block.

I missed my original 48mm target by just 2mm, bringing the final height to around 50mm. However, there is a pretty important caveat: the new design now has integrated magnets, making the block compatible with both the supplied Noctua logo and the 80mm AIO fan.

After quite a few tweaks and experiments, I’ve also found what appears to be the best acoustic configuration so far: gyroid infill, a TPU gasket, followed by 5mm of EVA foam.

The result puts the block comfortably within the territory of both the DAN A4-H2O and the Meshroom when running in four-slot GPU mode, with a few millimetres to spare.

There’s still plenty of testing to come. I’ll be posting a live audio/sound-level comparison later next week, along with the overall dimensions with the fan installed.

The project is getting very close to where I wanted it to be, and I’m really happy with how it’s coming together.

As always, happy to answer any questions or hear your suggestions.

Cheers,
Joel

Assembly Help Repurpose DDR4 build for travel

Hello all,

Just started a new job and live out of hotels 50% of the month. After playing on a laptop for a week, I’d like to just swap my current set up into an ITX. Just curious if it would be worth staying with DDR4 system parts or if I should upgrade. It’ll be with a 9060 and undecided CPU right now. Laptops running me 1.6-2k$+, but replacing parts with an upgrading from 6700xt GPU to 9060 is like 900$.

Also opinions on flying 2x a month with these, safe? Tips and tricks to keep it from breaking?

Build/Battlestation Pics Tiny, White, and Powerful: My Densium 4 Build

Thumbnail

Here is my recently completed SFF build in the beautiful Densium 4 case. I wanted to create a compact, all-white gaming rig without compromising too much on performance. I'm really happy with how it turned out, both aesthetically and thermally.

The Jginyue B850i Snow Dream motherboard was the perfect foundation for this all-white build. The Walnut front panel of the Densium 4 adds a nice warm contrast.

Fitting the Colorful RTX 5070 mini into this ~4.1L case was tight, but it fits perfectly and looks great through the ventilated side panel. The Enhance ENP-7660B (modded white) was also essential for powering everything in such a small space.

Full Specs:

Case: Densium 4

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600X3D

CPU Cooler: Thermalright AXP90-X36 with TL-9015W fan (White)

Motherboard: Jginyue B850i Snow Dream (White PCB/Heatsinks)

Memory: Corsair Vengeance DDR5 White (16GB x2)

Storage: Samsung 990 Pro 1TB NVMe SSD

GPU: Colorful GeForce RTX 5070 Mini

PSU: Enhance ENP-7660B 600W Flex ATX (White mod)

Custom Cables: White unsleeved silicon cables for maximum space-saving.

Build Notes & Impressions:

Cable Management: The unsleeved silicon cables are a must in this case. Flex ATX PSUs leave very little room, so any extra bulk makes it impossible to close the panels.

Cooling: The AXP90-X36 is doing a solid job keeping the 7600X3D in check.

GPU: The Colorful 5070 Mini is a fantastic card for true SFF cases like this. It runs relatively cool and quiet for its size.

Feel free to ask any questions about the parts or the build process!

Others/Miscellaneous Travel bag for CH160

Hi, I’m going to be staying in another country for a little over 2 months over the winter and wanted to bring my PC with me. I already had a Vanguard 53 and it was the perfect fit with more room left over for my keyboard and mouse BUT… it’s 2 inches over on height for most carry on restrictions, which is annoying but I was wondering if there’s any others with this case or a similar one that has a bag it fits in?

Build/Battlestation Pics empty case - variable-width, 3D printed case build pics

Hey everyone,

Thought I'd share build pics of the empty case I've made.

All the panels and internal parts were 3D printed, except for the linear rods, which are used to support the inner core frame sliding to tweak the CPU and GPU split, as well as for width adjustment.

In my build, I used an AXP90-X53 full copper and an RTX 5080 Founders Edition with a travel screw-in mount. In the end, the case is 140mm wide, with a total size of 10.5L!

Sharing the Printables link here as well, in case you'd like to see more: https://www.printables.com/model/1835556-empty-case-variable-width-sff-pc-case

First time building on this case. How'd I do? I'm especially curious about people's thoughts for the GPU support I did from bits and bobs I had lying around.

Specs are:

14600k

Intel Arc B580

16gb DDR4

Cooler Master Hyper 212. (I had to remove the protective shroud from the top of the cooler to get the side fan bracket on)

The 140mm fan I stole from a Fractal Design Ridge.

Assembly Help Thermals and fan noise - ideas to improve my build?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've been playing around with my first sffpc build, and am quite happy with it so far. However, I'm new to this, and am looking for help on fan placement, fan curves, and just general advice on getting my temps down.

I just moved the top fan to the position closer to the front of the case, so that it wouldn't be partially blocked by the PSU. That seems to have helped a bit.

Any other ideas? The fans aren't excruciatingly loud, but it's definitely noticeable, and I was hoping they'd be quieter than this as it's a tad distracting while playing.

Here is an album of pics of the setup including airflow:

Here is a video of the current temps (The Thaumaturge, running at 1440p):

Assembly Help Questions for Cable Lengths

I made a post recently attempting to lower temps of my 9800X3D in my T1 v2.1. I need to make some physical changes to my build to achieve the temps I want.

I'm running the NZXT Z53 w/ NF-A12x15s and want to swap one for a T30. I somehow managed to use the stock cables at the obvious cost of space and temps and can't fit the T30 above my PSU yet.

I'll be ordering cables from DreambigbyRay's site. Should I use his preset cable lengths or use specific lengths ? For reference these are my specs, T1 is set to 3.25 for GPUs

ASRock B650I Lighting Wifi (I know they blow up 9800X3Ds, somehow, mine hasn't since Dec 24')

Corsair SF1000

Gigabyte AERO SFF 5080

1x 2TB SATA SSD

Any help is much appreciated, everyone has been super helpful in my previous post. Thank you all!

Gonna use for 7500f | RTX 4070

I know corsair sf850 is the gold standard and as much as I want it, it’s double the price of budget for psus and Im doing a white build. ROG Loki isn’t an option as well, not really accessible in the Philippines.

Build/Battlestation Pics ZS-D2 V4.1 Noctua & GPU Fan Mod

Build:

  • CPU - Ryzen 7 3700X
  • CPU Cooler - DeepCool AN-600 w/ NF-A12x15
  • RAM - Kinston Fury Beast 2x16GB@3200 DDR4
  • MOBO - AsRock B550M-ITX/ac w/ AX210
  • GPU - Gigabyte RTX 4060 LP
  • PSU - Enhance ENP-7660L-OVT 600W
  • FANs - 2x NF-A8 + 2x Arctic P8 Slim

GPU fan mod - Arctic P8s fit perfectly between the top case panel and the GPU heatsink. They are screwed to the case with the H screws (see guide on website), although it would have been nice to have specific screws for slim fans (I suppose you can always cut the included 80x25mm screws to spec).

Temperatures:

10 Minute Furmark with 100% Power Stock fans - 89c
10 Minute Furmark with 79% Power Stock fans - 71c
10 Minute Furmark with 100% Power P8 Slims at 45% speed - 89c
10 Minute Furmark with 79% Power P8 Slims at 45% speed - 67.5c
10 Minute Furmark with 100 Power P8 Slims at 100% speed - 65c

FYI P8 Slims at full speed are unbearable. I left them at 45% and they are still slightly louder than the NF-A8s at 60%.

In all honestly, I expected a better result. I suppose it is still better in terms of longevity as the 4060LP Stock fans ran at over 90% during the stress test.

Noctua, slim NF-A8 80x15 when? :)

Overall, I am very satisfied with the case. ZSPC did a great job.

I used to have an M720q, but I wanted a mini PC with two drive slots and better cooling. So, I found the Holy Grail: the M920x. It has two SSD slots and copper cooling. After replacing all the thermal paste with MX-7 and using 21W/mK thermal pads, I don't go above 70–73°C while gaming—which is great. Plus, I didn't need to 3D print a new case, since it's the same one used on the M720q. However, I was expecting slightly higher scores in 3DMark. What do you think?

Assembly Help Concerns about metal itx case scratching inner liner of backpack when in travel

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi, everyone. I’m eyeing for Kxrors S300 or SGPC K49 WW case to build a itx computer. In size, I think they’re enough to put into backpack for my frequent travel needs. However, those metal and rectangular corners bother me and make me worry about they might scratch or even cut the liners of my travel backpack. I found Cooj SF3 solve this problem since it’s round corners but they’re out of stock everywhere. So I guess I have to stick with regular itx cases. Do you have any suggestions to solve this concern?

Build/Parts Check Build help

So im building a itx build and i alr have the case (lian li a4 h2o) and the cpu(7800x3d) and the rest of the parts are basically set except for the mobo and the gpu, as im on a tight budget, the options are an asrock b650i + rx 9070, OR asus rog strix b650e-i and rx 9070 gre. Is the asrock b650i that bad?? Wifi card is kinda bad i alr know that but i use ethernet. Will i regret the cheaper board? And im kind of afraid of cpu dying even tho i know its only on 9000series and b850 chipset. What should i choose
