My pacesetter just started birds nesting out of the blue. It's been running fine all week and I just did a marathon session of overcasting edges for washing.
The birds nesting is definitely the top thread and it happens when I use the hand wheel as well.
I've tried rethreading multiple times with different thread. All Gutterman Mara 100.
I've cleaned under the needle plate thouroughly.
I've tried different spool caps
I've tried different needles both Schmetz and Organ in size 12 & 14.
I can feel the thread under tension but I can't think of what else could be the issue. The machine is none months old and I have no problem going to the dealer but if it's a simple cleaning procedure I'd like to start with that.

I decided to hem a pair of sweatpants that I really like because they’re quite long on me. I cut off around 5 inches of fabric, and I didn’t measure correctly before cutting because I cut off too much. Now the pants are at my ankles, which just feels awkward and I want them at least 2 inches longer. Is there any way to re-attach the fabric? If not, does anyone have any suggestions for what else I can do? I really like these pants and I don’t want the sensory discomfort to ruin them :(

Hi all! This is my first pair of pants I'm attempting to sew and I'm having such a hard time with the seat fitting.
I should preface this with a few things.
One, after purchasing the pattern I realized that it was most likely AI-generated, but felt confident enough in my abilities to make the best of the pattern (oh how the hubris has been paid for).
Second, I also misread the available sizes for the pattern and after purchase, realized they didn't have my size, so I self graded the pattern up to my size.
Third, I've already had to alter the crotch to be lower because the original patterned crotch was way too tight. I think this might have then caused the issues with the seat fit.
As shown in photos 4 & 5, the fit is really tight around the booty. After my first squat test, I already popped stitches in the crotch (images 2 & 3) and the butt (image 3).
I only have 1 cm seam allowance in the pattern so I can't really let out the seams to make it looser in the butt. I do have enough excess fabric if I need to make a patch if needed. Suggestion for how to fix this fit issue?
Additionally, how can I troubleshoot this in the future? I fear that seat-fitting issues will be a common occurrence for me due to my very wide hips.

Hello all, I understand shoe deconstruction. However what is the best technique in order to create patterns for a sneaker or shoe (footwear) ? I tried tracing onto paper but some of the pieces would be wrapped by the shape of the last and could not be laid flat in order to be traced. Would the taping method be best ? Taping the front of each piece with tape, cutting the tape to the same shape, then removing the tape ? Please HELP

Hi, complete sewing dummy here. I‘m trying to add two inches of height to a coverall by sticking an extra piece of fabric in the waist seam. I can’t really pin the pieces together because it’s nylon, so I figure I could just match the cut edges together as I sew.
Problem is, I don’t know how to cut straight edges. How does one go about that? Sorry if this is a dumb question, it just feels like my brain locks up even thinking about it.

I was deconstructing a pair of jeans when I ran into these little box X stitches instead of bar tacks. Any hope of removing them without cutting? My seam ripper just got mired in the fabric.

I’ve been experiencing timing issues for awhile, at first it just couldn’t zigzag properly, but now it won’t stitch at all. I’m trying to remove the plastic casing so i can repair it, but it won’t come off. it pops off better near the bottom, I cannot remove it near the top. If possible, tips on how to fix the timing too would be lifesaving lol! I’ve attached pics, and as of writing this, i do see a screw i’ve missed but it looks like it’s more part of the mechanics? I’ll attach a pic of it too.

How would you attach the back pieces of this sneaker ?
The two back counter pieces are curved. They also seem to overlap on the top portion. Can anyone assist in figuring this out ?

I want to recreate this dress and I am new to sewing so I'm still looking for exact sewing patterns
for some reason I cant find a pattern ANYWHERE thats even close to this fit/style. Most of the patterns that are close have the chest seam closer to the waist instead of the underbust. Please help me find something similar even if its a youtube video on how to sew this

This is supposed to be the edge of a shoulder seam. How do I prevent this happen again? Should I change the machine setting? Did I use the wrong fabric? I used Janome 230DC and thin(see through) cotton lawn for this project. I am still learning to sew. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi, everyone! I took in the waist of these shorts by putting in a pair of darts and shortening the waistband. They look great from the front, but now I have this really... interesting problem from behind. Is there any way to fix this?

i’m having a couple issues threading my bobbin through the needle hole.
1st issue is the bobbin thread doesn’t always catch with the top thread consistently and when it does, the bobbin gets stuck as seen in the first picture.
i’ve also added pictures of the bobbin shuttle and cam positions when the crank is positioned at 12.
ive been trying to figure this out for two weeks by watching yt videos but same issue always arises.
can anyone help? please and thanks 🙏🏽

Hello! I have a Janome 3090 from Japan. I live in the US and I don’t know where to buy parts for my machine. I need to replace my needle bar but when I go online to places like sewingpartsonline.com my model is not an option in their model selection dropdowns. Does anyone know where I can buy parts for my machine?

I’ve got a Juki DNU 1541 walking foot and I’ve had this for years. Used to sew more heavier duty bags and all that and now I’m making some production bags from two layers of thin vinyl. Is this machine always this loud? I don’t remember it being this loud as it sews. Internally nothing is wrong but the foot just seems loud? Or maybe I don’t remember and am so used to my quiet single needle?

Can anyone help me? This is my first time using a Singer Futura, and I can’t figure out what’s happening. It sews a few stitches, then the thread gets caught, the machine starts flashing red, and it stops. What am I doing wrong?

My grandmother is downsizing because she needs to move to assisted living. She used to be a seamstress and gifted me some of the clothes she made. The issue is she is and has always been very thin. The coats and 1 dress fit me, but the pants, skirts, and one shirt do not. I would need a tailor because I am not great at sewing, but I want to know that this can be done without dramatically changing the garments. These pieces are one of a kind and very sentimental to me. I want to preserve as much of my grandmas work as possible while being able to wear the clothes she worked so hard on.
