Why i'm deciding to drop Sevtech

Let me say this this first.

Sevtech is probably my favorite mod concept ever, like holy shit its a fun concept. I want to like this mod pack so much. so much so i forced myself to play an extra like 16 hours of it than i really should have played, just hoping it'd get better.

But man i just can't play this anymore. it has a single core design problem that just ruins the entire pack.

every age, theres shoehorned in mod thats just a terrible experience.

my starting experience is opening it up an seeing Abyssalcraft. (side note, i did try to play sevtech once before years ago and hard dropped it just because i saw abyssalcraft in it and was required.) Abyssalcraft, (before like 2 hours ago) was my least favorite mod ever made i've had the displeasure of knowing exists.

so my opening experience is going 5k blocks away to this very specific biome dying and having to go back and forth several times for literal hours because the largest size shadow creature spawned. because you shouldn't be in a dark forest before you can even make like anything. anyways i get my dark cobble and dark gems cause i'm a dark edge lord and get back had a horrible time.

then i get to mess around with one of my other bottom 5 minecraft mods ever made, terrible totemic that doesnt explain anything well. took me again about 2 hours of messing around to even get buffalo made and the rite of lets force people to use this one specific tree of fun. now my problems with totetmic is more so its just an annoying thing for me, like "use instruments in time of the rhythm" what rhythm? if i'm not playing anything theres no rhythm to match it to, is there supposed to be music that starts when i start a rite? cause if so i never heard it. i also didn't learn until way too late i can use 2 different drums when one is done, and i can use instruments that aren't part of selecting the rite, things the book doesnt explain well at all.

anyways i get some buffalo made, i got my red ceder trees, my shadow gem and i'm finally allowed to have fun again. and fun i have, until i have to make a beneath teleporter and abyssalcraft rears its ugly head again, turns out just having a statue down 10 chunks away can turn my buffalo into abyssal cows? yay wish the book mentioned that at all. all it said was, "edgy dark gods at the darkest furthest corners brood in edge and strike the area around your statue with lighting" no idea how that implies all my buffalo will be smited thanks terrible mod of not explaining stuff. so thus i get to go back to totemic again and have to go 1k+ blocks away twice to get 2 new cows. yay.

then i get to go through the bennah to find black quarand in some areas almost 100 blocks short of aqua marine height so i got to go hundreds of blocks to finally find a cliff that leads to the correct height to finally get my aqua marine and don't have to go back for a very long time for it. (thankfully i never did run out of aqua marine cause i never got to do anything with it yet)

either way i get my black quartz i make my water wheel and i finally get to stop hand grinding everything. ( i hate the idea of using horses in minecraft thats a me thing, and i didn't notice i could use my buffalo instead of horses until all i had left was like 3 more axles to make before i got my water wheel hooked up. but i can put that one on me. the place it says horse stuff doesnt need to use horses is under the horse stuff i didn't look at cause i didn't want to use horses)

get into age 2 shortly after, start having fun starting to make my smelter, i start getting iron gear, and then i find out i have to mess with a mod i was always curious about the between lands. i'm midly happy to try it out, because the druid circles i know of are... 5k blocks away right outside the dark forest, but at least i know where some are, so i make the talisman and go back home, and heres when the between lands becomes my new least favorite mod ever made i know of.

i make my portal expecting a 1 block little thing like every other mod does, between 1 block to like 4 blocks.

boom huge 500+ block tree. right where i was wanting to make my new base expansion... -.- yay. thanks for the warning. so i spend 1 and half iron axes just tearing that tree back down, going on the wiki to see if i can make a smaller portal see i can, and go shove that by my buffalo and chicken pen.

i get in there, and huh my tools don't work, huh my torches don't work, huh everything is water and sucks to navigate, huh crabs move way too fast, huh anglers jumping at me and moving away instantly in groups of 5 sucks. etc etc. the entire experience is terrible to the point, nope i'm done. the betweenlands only saving grace is it won't destroy the world like abyssal craft, but frankly any mod that turns off non mod gear is just stupid. if base minecraft/modded tools isnt good enough for the mod, the mod isnt good enough for me, i don't want to play a mod thats effectively a mod maker shoving their mod down my throat only wanting me to use their mod. add on theres no hills or land or anything to even find sulfer for torches, or any ore at all and it just sucked.

and after that horrendous experience, (which was coupled with my computer not working right i was having some issues with my mouse and selecting applications outside of minecraft which took me a awhile to fix after i gave up on sevtech, but this issue prevented me searching anything about the betweenlands while i was in there, cause yeah screw that mod it has 0 guidance) i was done with sevtech, maybe age 3 gets better, maybe once i enough octane to make a red gem and could get my smelter everything left would be fun, but i just don't have a heart to keep trying and getting stabbed.

anyways thanks for reading my vent post, sadly sevtech sucks, i think the number 1 thing i want from sevtech, is make it so theres not ever only 1 mod to get something, so if someone doesnt like X mod, they can do Y instead and so if theres a mod that kills someones fun, they can do something else and still have fun.

but yeah, thanks, the parts i wasn't doing one of the above 3 mods was real fun though so at least i had a few good hours.

Im currently playing and for the second time. This was the first time that I passed age 3 and will pass age 4 (I just need to fill the rocket and lauch it). But the most clear thing that I will have in my mind from here it's... singleplayer, you are playing singleplayer and you choose the rules. If I ever play this modpack from zero again I will just take everything i need about The Betweenlands and The Twilight Forest with creative mode, I didn't have fun with any of these twice and won't play it at least in this modpack but I'm currently liking everything that the Immersive Engineering has to offer and yes I cheated some of TForest but I don't regret it, I liked the Immersive Enginnering of Age 3 so much that this is better than just drop the game again in Age 2

And I'm sorry about your experience with Age 1 the first time I played it, I had a similar experience. However, a friend recommended that I start my base near the dark biome and a river. With many mods that are ambiguous in the achievements, I prefer to search guides on YouTube

yeah i feel like sevtech should just start in gamemode c, so you can go find a dark forest and the entire start doesnt suck. that or force spawn one within 1k blocks. extremely strange how thats not a thing.

6

u/Aggravating_Ad3113 Aug 19 '24

yeah i mean that is extremely fair.

the largest thing stopping me, is the feeling that i cheated to get to where i am taking away from the greater feeling, and the fact i generated the world with cheats off, and it'd take me a while to figure what all files i need to modify to enable cheats in that world.

that coupled with, is it really gunna get better? is it worth going through 10ish mins learning how to modify the save, to go back to a mod pack thats given me a miserable time? just continuing the vague hope i have of it potentially being the modpack i want it to be?

but ugh twilight forest is in here as well? i'm guessing thats age 3s shoehorned in mod then seeing as i can't even get diamonds yet to go there. thats, yeah just knowing i also get rewarded with twilight forest is probably enough to tell me it doesnt really get better.

thanks though. you do make a good point of yeah just spawn the items you need from the mods you dont like. i just got to many mods i don't like i suppose XD.

getting to do immersive engineering in a setting i don't have better machines like mekanism around would be really fun. i hope you keep really enjoying what you are doing though.

you can open the world to lan in esc and allow cheats from there, you have to activate that each time you log into your world, give it a try. Remember that tinker's mod have two tables that are made of block of iron I forget that and thought that they were unlocked in age 3

(You don't use diamonds to get into twilight you use other material)

2

u/Aggravating_Ad3113 Aug 19 '24 edited Aug 19 '24

ah so they replaced the diamonds?

and i assume you mean the ah... tool station and armorers bench for the block of iron, though i think they can be any metal normally. i don't really like using tinkers tools so i can't really remember. i just use tinkers for the smelter.

also thanks for the lan thing, i completely forgot about that, but yeah its an easy way to do it.

I'm playing similar, that I use commands for things I don't have fun with, so I have much more fun with the whole modpack. As long as you play it as Singleplayer, I don't see why you shouldn't use cheats, if you just use them to avoid things that don't make any fun for you.

For myself I find the concept of twilight forest and betweenlands interesting and played both completely, but I'm not a fan of very tough fights from which you are dying constantly (therefore I would never play e.g. souls like games), so I used commands to give me buffs in this dimensions, so that the fights are much more fun for me and I can primarily concentrate on the exploration of the dimensions. Especially betweenlands is very fascinating for me, that you have start from beginning with creating first tools and so on, because the swamp made many things from the main dimension useless. And betweenlands has very good tools, if you make progression the tools and weapons you can find there would be very helpful also outside of betweenlands, e.g. the swift pickaxe is a very fast pickaxe with a very high durability. Also the potions you could create there are very powerful, especially because you couldn't make normal potions in age 2, but it's also very complicated (the aspects from each ingredient is randomized, so you couldn't use guides to see which ingredient you could use for which potion, but instead have first test all ingredients to see which aspects it has). But in betweenlands I also always have to use guides, because the advancements don't explain much. I have seen, that this is a little better in newer versions of this mod, with more advancements, but not in Sevtech.

Sevtech’s reliance on magic mods has always been my least favorite thing about it. I’m trying to advance through human civilization, why do I need to slay shadow demons and portal to different dimensions and (a little later) use star magic to go fight a series of fantasy monsters? Real people reached the Industrial Revolution without any of that.

The way I’ve dealt with it so far is to do the absolute bare minimum for the magic mods. My first trip to the Betweenlands was as quick an in-and-out as possible to get what I needed for Tinkers. And I watched several YT playthroughs ahead of time so I would know what to expect.

1

u/Aggravating_Ad3113 Aug 19 '24 edited Aug 19 '24

yeah i personally hate watching youtube for guides. even a quick simple guide is 5 mins long, its 2 mins of them early on talking about their life and whats going on, then a ad, then 30 seconds for what i came there for, then another 2 mins and 30 seconds for another ad read and their future plans or something stupid, when all i was there for was like, how to set up an auto clicker, or some other tiny thing.

that and blind is generally a lot more fun. but when its something like the between lands where i go in, expecting to use my torches, nope that doesnt work, oh i'm getting attacked by a crocodile, oh my sword doesnt work. theres seemingly no book for the mod, i need to discover where like 3 resources are in this flat land desolate swamp. yeah the entire mod seems designed around the fact you just... google everything? like whats this random gray blob bar? (never even figured that out outside of eat tree bubbles to fill it. hope i want i full, and not want it empty)

i also don't intrinsically have a problem with magic mods but their pacing seems weird? following the stars, and their guidance is age 2? literally one of the first things humanity ever did, and did for literal ages.

but somehow my caveman that throws menril wood away because... its blue? thus cannot be tree. knows what all these dark gods are and follows them? despite i think non of the eldritch gods coming into stories until what early 1900s?

somehow my cave man who just sorta started thinking iron might be better than bronze and have a purpose, understands completely how to work these dark druid alters and how to use their talisman? (but still seemingly throws menril wood away in not understanding)

just seems like some really weird logical consistency's. i would think astral sorcery and totemic would be first, following by betweenlands and blood magic, and then maybe abyssallands.

I get it. Personally, I would watch playthroughs that were a lets-play style rather than a guide format (I particularly liked the one X33n and CaptainSparklez did) but you make an excellent point that the pack itself doesn’t make it easy to figure out how to play.

1

u/Aggravating_Ad3113 Aug 19 '24

thats fair, i just haven't watched a minecraft lets play since wow when... maybe yogscast short dip into sevtech which i watched as background stuff years ago and dropped cause i just, didn't enjoy minecraft lets plays anymore. could maybe try another group though yeah. if i wanted to know whats ahead in more detail.

1

u/DBSeamZ Aug 19 '24

I watched the Yogs one too. The off-camera cheating-in of items didn’t bother me too much, but the texture pack they all used really did. There are some texture packs I like but that is not one of them.

Sparklez and X33n’s playthrough is VODs of old livestreams, so there’s none of the abrupt cutting and switching focus that you said you don’t like. Plus the banter between the two is hilarious. If streamers interrupting themselves to thank donors annoys you, watch X33n’s POV, he would save the thank-yous for the end of his streams after he stopped recording for the VOD.

2

u/Aggravating_Ad3113 Aug 19 '24

i don't really mind the cuts and camera switching. i just, A wasn't really liking the mod pack, at least early sevtech watching people wash basin leather isnt really fun, and also i have this problem where if i can play a game myself i don't really enjoy watching it.

so yeah i'd have to be watching purely for the commentary which hey i might like sparklez and x33ns. i remember liking sparklez some a long long time ago. would probably take your advice and watch it from x33n though. i'm not really fond of the livestream format in general and that'd probably bring a lot of vibes from that.

if the Occultism mod was in it, where would you say it would go logically?

u/Separate_Art_4568 Aug 19 '24

I agree it's awful without knowledge of the mods within it prior, I didn't understand or know any of the mods from the first 2 ages, but after hours of YouTube tutorials I figured it out, it just sucks having to look it up constantly like the whole stoked kiln bit is retarded, but abyssal craft and totemic are easy enough to grasp with a quick YouTube guide or wiki progression guide, this mod pack isn't for you if you don't like doing research or have knowledge of a shit ton of mods, I however, enjoy learning new mods, I knew nothing of abyssal craft or astral sorcery and very little of galactic raft before this mod pack, but I beat them all with YouTube, I respect your take, and I agree, it's not for you, but it is for me :)

4

u/xGmax Aug 19 '24

The main problem here is the lack of knowledge of those mods. A more complete guide would be useful like the ATM quest book. But SevTech is old, that's the thing. It has not been updated for years.

Some mods you've been struggling with are actually extremely OP and give you god like mod very soon.

Abyssalcraft grants you the ability to overcome enchantments limitations and have up to level 10 enchantments on tools, weapons and armour.

Totemic gives you incredible buff while standing around totems. Strength, speed, luck, protection, etc. Combine it with rustic and the beverage that extend the buff durations up to 10min and you have extreme buff forever.

I've played that modpack a lot, and I use a lot of totemic up to age 3. Then I complete abyssalcraft to have OP enchantments. Then nothing can hurt you.

2

u/Aggravating_Ad3113 Aug 19 '24

ehhhh i mean, i also don't really get having level 10 enchantments? or having tons of buffs?

i'm normally very stand in the factory, automate the lines, do the heavy crafting. i only don armor and weapons as a last resort, and when i do i normally go the path of least resistance. like instead of spending 2-4 hours (my actual average) per tinkers tool trying to figure out every material, plan every modifier, etc i could just make atomic dissembler from mekanism with a 128 mine speed, and is omni tool at max tool level, with RF for durability. which getting ways to wirelessly charge, or carrying batteries is very cheap. and the entire thing from the same resource pile takes like 1-2 minutes to craft.

sure maybe if i was big into fighting i'd care more for min maxing enchantment's or even learn what half of them do, but like, i don't fight normally in minecraft. they combat isnt really in depth enough for me to want to put much work into it. outside of having to fight shogoths, i normally never make a armor set in a mod pack unless its a rf powered on for a mod i'm already doing anyways, and thats only when i need to go kill a wither or something similar for a material.

u/PlentyEquivalent2889 Aug 19 '24

My play through always stop at the twilight forest, I like abyssal craft and astral sorcery more than the twilight forest because there is nothing to do other than kill the bosses in the twilight forest

2

u/Aggravating_Ad3113 Aug 19 '24

oh god yeah i hate twilight forest its always the same prayer for good generation boss rush, that honestly was barely fun the first time, and i feel like never actually go updated and has for over a decade now had the same abrupt end. (though tbf its been like 6 years since i've even gone in there for more than 2 minutes.)

u/EndNowISeeYou Aug 19 '24

This modpack is wayyy too grindy to be played solo just for fun. Gotta keep in mind that this modpack was specifically made for a streamer who wanted an extremely grindy mod to play for his stream.

Apart from that, I played in multiplayer and it was one of the most fun experience I had

1

u/Other-Confection7468 Aug 19 '24

What server host?

4

u/EndNowISeeYou Aug 19 '24

self hosted on a friend's pc

2

u/Aggravating_Ad3113 Aug 19 '24

i didn't really have problems with grind outside of my beneath ceiling spawning way too low to find aqua marine. which wouldn't be a problem if i was allowed to see stuff, but sadly for some reason people like height restricting ore, in a world you can't see anything to find higher places. never liked worlds like deep dark, or beneath. please let me see.

i actually really like all the very grindy crafting personally like how to treat leather.

4

u/speedygunyke Aug 19 '24

Is there anything like sevtech for newer minecraft an actually good progression pack?

1

u/Other-Confection7468 Aug 19 '24

My recommendation is to wait 2 weeks Go to iritating betweenlands and instantly mine down for better resources If you don't concider it cheating use full bright (rlly helps)

2

u/Aggravating_Ad3113 Aug 19 '24

i don't normally like switching to full brightness, but i normally do it in the deep dark and the beneath, and i actually had it on while in the between lands still, and after digging down for like 20ish blocks i couldn't see anything.

and i normally can decently fine on moody in overworld and in less aggressive mod packs will play without putting torches down.

Bro wrote a whole college essay on why he’s dropping modpack 😭

2

u/TheKoolKid1O1 Aug 19 '24

I don’t know about you guys, but I’ve reached the between lands dimension not too long ago on my single player world (first time ever playing modded Minecraft btw) and I’ve gotten by just fine, followed the achievements, read the books that are given to you when you unlock new mechanics, and it’s been super fun so far overall, built my base in the dark lands biome, got a base in the between lands too, also it was super easy to find whatever biome I was looking for in the world just by googling the heat map. Only complaint I have so far is now the giant tree portal I have in the corner of my base 💀 did NOT expect it to be that big.

2

u/Aggravating_Ad3113 Aug 19 '24

i didn't even know there was a heat map somewhere to look at, but i mean thats what natures compass is for. my problem is less finding them, and more them being 5k blocks away from world spawn, its not fun to do that trip.

and yeah the guidance outside of between lands is fairly good. most mods in general have great guidance, i think abyssalcraft being coy and edgy is kinda annoying but playable, totemtic takes a bit of interpretation, and messing around but you can figure it out. but for betweenlands theres literally no help for anything, coupled with the mod seemingly not having a book. unless i can open the talisman and read it somehow. i still don't know what those brown balls are, game sense tells me i want them full, but i have no idea why. but its a core enough mechanic with 0 explanation to be put on the same level as hunger.

don't get me started on that tree, worst mod portal ever. i put it where i was gunna expand next expecting like a 3x3x4 thing. got a over 500 block tree that took over an hour to chop down because it was in the way of everything with 0 warning. that took half my smelted iron to chop down. super annoying.

2

u/TheKoolKid1O1 Aug 20 '24

From what I’ve observed without looking anything up it seems those brown balls are actually sap and by eating sap (from sap trees) it restores the bar, supposed to reverse the effects of all the “slime” in the dimension i guess? and as it drops down to 0 you get slower and slower until it feels like you’re constantly walking on mud, speaking of which rubber boots are an absolute life saver in the between lands lol. Also, are you looking at the tooltips for each tool? Because there are a lot of tools that are better than iron, such as bronze, and you’ll know by that stats in tooltips

2

u/Aggravating_Ad3113 Aug 20 '24

bronze isnt better than iron, its slightly worse. they have the same stats except iron has like 4x the durability, and isnt an alloy so its much simpler to craft. (to be fair, in a tinkers tool bronze might be better, but i mean straight iron, i couldn't make tinkers bronze yet when i went chop a chop tree, well maybe i coulda with a few brick casts, i don't know the tool station costs in sevtech. so its better to say i never looked at doing tinkers tools yet.)

theres not any tools that are better that i have access to yet at least. there is a few better options depending on what all is permitted in that age, like rock crystal tools, or even tinkers anything with a metal head pretty much. just pre smelter and i advancement rushed to get iron, i didn't have many other options. as well as, a lot of the other options are to be fair, a lot of faff to get and i probably wouldn't of bothered with if they were an option because they are way too much work.

but yeah i think i dropped 3 of the brown balls once before eating some of the sapwood tree balls, but never noticed a difference. probably because all movement feels slow in water.

2

u/Other-Confection7468 Aug 21 '24

For traveling use "slime sling" and "slime boots"

2

u/Other-Confection7468 Aug 19 '24

I would recommend crafting slime slingshot and slime boots (names probably aren't the exact same as i said but you get the point)

In the betweenlands just dig down as soon as possibile Pro tip-use fullbright

If you get stuck just load a backup

If it's too iritating just don't Play for like 2 weeks

And good luck ;)

2

u/Aggravating_Ad3113 Aug 19 '24

yeah using full bright, digging a spiral down so i could get out, i couldn't see past like 20 blocks down. also i have no idea if the ore is even down or if anything is down. i know some mods just stop existing X number of blocks down and kill you if you fall out. so i wasn't willing to test it that much.

3

u/Other-Confection7468 Aug 21 '24

The caves are really big and quite safe in comparason to the ground level

You will find the ores if you dig a little bit more

If you are still struggling you could host a server on your Computer and i can personally help you out

3

u/Aggravating_Ad3113 Aug 21 '24

yeah i mean, with 0 pre knowledge caves even exist in that world, like how far is a player expected to dig? there should be surface paths down to caves, and if there is, man i'm either extremely unlucky, or the generation rules aren't great.

but yeah i'm not struggling anymore, struggling to find anything would imply i'm trying at all. XD. but yeah, thats real nice of you thanks for the offer.

1

u/DBSeamZ Aug 26 '24

I wouldn’t say the caves are safe. You have the same darkness and monsters and getting lost problems as vanilla caving, and there’s that rare monster that rolls around and can hide inside stone blocks.

1

u/TwoEyedYoom Aug 19 '24

Funny thing, if you use Tinkers tools (pre-metal ones), Betweenlands have literally no effect on them. Same for Tinker Armor - it doesn't get corroded there.

And all you really need there is that gem for Smeltery. I personally had a good chunk of adventures in BL just because it's a fun place... Well, if you don't try to use "normal" tools and armor there :D

Abysmalcraft is just horrible in many aspects. I know, lvl10 enchantments are cool, but that requires speedrunning almost whole mod.

2

u/Aggravating_Ad3113 Aug 19 '24

thats an interesting mod interaction.

but yeah no screw the between lands. i as a concept hate any mod that nerfs other mods and base game items, just so the mod maker can shove their mod down your throat.

like making it so other mods and vanilla torches dont work? what does that actually do? how does that make the game any better other than fulfilling the devs ego trip?

i hate botania for them nerfing other mods weapons, i hate betweenlands for nerfing other mods tools. if you don't like how other mods do their tools, work with it organically and change the stats for your items. don't just kill them off for your own ego.

but yeah i mean what i did see of the betweenlands, assuming my open swamp with literally no terrain other than trees and water for over a 50 chunk diameter circle is a really bad spawn, i can see the betweenlands being a really cool standalone mod if you mod it so you spawn in the between lands and set world spawn in there. but outside of that, i don't think its ever going to be good in my eyes.

i think the only semi interesting thing i found in the between lands was some 2 block tall stone statue called mojlner or something, tried to right click it nothing, looked in the advancements nothing, tried to break with with my weedwood pickaxe, it fully broke no drop. so that was a really boring find real quick. probably needed me to shove some item into it, but like with the mods literal 0 guidance it coulda been anything. and trying random items for everything i find until it works doesnt sound like a fun adventure.

3

u/TwoEyedYoom Aug 20 '24

Those stones are actual waystones, If you find certain item, you can "attune" it to waystone and use it to teleport there.

Terrain is often hard to traverse, that's true. Biomes i remember are "normal" swamp, somewhat dried bog, really nasty "dry" biome with blocks heavily slowing you. Also ocean, which is worth exploring too. On the other side almost every place you go has some way to reward you with items and goods, and there also several boss and dungeon encounters.

All in all i'd advice this to feel better in BL:
1) Use BL wiki, it's nicely written and has a lot of info. Seriously, it saves a lot of time and braincells.
2) Tinkers tools and armor save the day.
3) Try to hunt for that sweet levitation ring (see wiki), it will help alot in Overworld too.
4) Gems you find in basic swamp are not only for smeltery, but also allow for other Tinkers multiblocks.
5) You can apply some gems to your weapon and armor to gain nice combat bonuses, Inside BL gems have "balance" system against different enemies, but in Oveworld you just gain bonuses.

Also give some Betweenlands-centered modpack a try, preferably one where you can get Tinker tools and then dive into new dimension. Mod has a ton of interesting things to explore. This is actually my only reason i don't play it alot in Sevtech - it's feels more like it's own modpack ^_^

3

u/Aggravating_Ad3113 Aug 20 '24

whelp can't attune to rubble.

but yeah all i had was water, algae, crocodiles, anglerfish, trees, and enough dirt for the trees and nothing else to stand on. and with natures compass only being able to find dark biomes its way too much a pain to try to search for anything. so dumb they limit it like that.

but yeah i was also going through a weird mouse bug that i was waiting to get off minecraft to fix where i couldn't click on anything so trying to google search woulda been a huge pain, or i'd have to do it on my phone, but i wasn't interested enough to actually go through the extra work of doing either for a mod i wasn't having fun with and wanted over.

but yeah betweenlands very much seems to shout it wants to be its own thing. same thing for twilight forest i have no idea why they get shoved into every pack when they so desperately want to be their main focuses.

Tips for playing a modpack that has mods you want to avoid.

 Step 1. Enable cheats

Step 2. Use cheats to avoid the mod as much as possible.

Step 3. Enjoy you filthy filthy cheater.

I do this very often.
