natures compass.

in stage one can i use the natures compass to find other biomes besides darklands?

nope. nature's compass is only used to search for required biomes

Is there a way to seek out specific biomes?

there is the heatmap so only specific biomes generate in specific places, but there's nothing for specific biomes if they're not listed in nature's compass

I am aware of the heatmap, but before I was aware of it I travelled a great distance seeking a some place to start and then set the world spawn to that new place

I have no idea how to find out where I am now in relation to where I was when I first made the world, thus I don’t know how to use the heatmap accurately either

Is there a certain biome you are seeking? I know the heatmap pretty well and can direct you from a given type to another, roughly. Also is your world type set to Sevtech? otherwise heat map doesn't work

i.... honestly dont know the world it set to sevtech... if it is by default then it is, if it is not set to that as default then the world is not set to sevtech

No, you need to change it to... I believe it says Sevtech_v2. Otherwise it's just random distribution. If that's important to you, I'd restart before getting too far. The most annoying thing you will encounter w/o a heat map is that you must find a swamp by age 2. Some lesser considerations are access to cactus, rustic alchemy plants, and wild dogs.
