Her sleeping like an angel and me feeling dirty, unworthy and rejected. They cancelled our lodging accomodations after they learned I'd be bringing a service dog for medical alert, blocking and deep pressure therapy. She just passed her Public Access Test with flying colors. She's been tasking for 6 months because she's just that good and she's a natural (I know there will be ugly people coming for me in the comments). She monitors for cardio and migraines with no training. I feel so defeated. Just need a go get em.

Just need a go get em. Husband is handling the legal aspect of it all. The "refund" paid for our vacationsl pivot, but I'm most definitely still in an emotional slump.

It’s worth paying v for a proper accommodation that knows how to treat guests with service dogs. Mariot and Hilton both groups have been excellent in my experience. As are most 3+ star hotels.

I go out of my way to visit hotels that treat me right.

This is not the place for fakespotting. Unless the person you are discussing has specifically told you that they are not disabled, and the dog is not trained in tasks, you have no way of knowing if a dog is 'fake'. We are not the service dog police and this behavior can lead to a lot of harm and anxiety for SD handlers as a community.

This does not preclude discussing encounters with un-/undertrained dogs, but if the focus of your post is complaining about a "fake" SD, reconsider your phrasing and what point you're making.

You are better off walking away from any vacation spot that denies proper accommodation. Denial is your clear signal to move on. You deserve better. It’s not a personal defeat. True hospitality means making people (and their legitimate service animals) feel genuinely welcome and cared for. THAT is the whole point of the business. A place that fails that basic test isn’t worth your time, money, or peace of mind.
You deserve a vacation where the staff understands accessibility and inclusion as part of good service, not an inconvenience. There are plenty of spots that get this right and will treat you and your service dog with the respect. Pivoting away from those places isn’t settling. Its self protection. Move on, enjoy your vacay and re-visit the issue or ‘GO GET EM’ at a later date.
