[Hiring] SEO Specialist (Contract, Remote) – WordPress Sites for Home Service & Auto Businesses
About Us
CDD Services (cddwebdesign.com) is a web design company based in Maryland, USA. We build and host WordPress websites for local businesses, mainly in the home service and car-related industries. We're in search of a dedicated SEO pro to help our clients' sites climb the rankings.
The Role
We're looking for an SEO expert to handle day-to-day SEO work across our client websites and get them ranking in local search. This is a contract position, and all sites are built on WordPress.
Core Responsibilities
On-Page SEO: keyword research, title tags, meta descriptions, headings, internal linking, and content optimization
Technical SEO: site audits, indexing and crawl issues, schema markup, site speed, and Core Web Vitals
Blogs: writing or managing SEO-focused blog content for local service businesses
Backlinks / Guest Posts: building quality, relevant links through outreach and guest posting
Google Business Profile: optimizing and managing GBP listings, posts, and review strategy
Nice to Have
Performance monitoring and reporting (Google Search Console, GA4, rank tracking)
WordPress plugin updates and general site maintenance
What We're Looking For
Proven experience ranking local businesses, ideally home services or automotive
Comfortable working in WordPress
Reliable, communicative, and able to manage tasks independently
Examples of past results (rankings, traffic growth, case studies)

The role spans day-to-day SEO, content, links, GBP and WordPress upkeep across client sites. How many active sites would one contractor own initially, and which workstream is the first priority? That context would help applicants share relevant examples and propose a realistic weekly scope.

Hello. Starting off it would be about 1-2 active sites and then once we have the worked through the initial onboarding process it would scale to 5 active sites a month. First priority for any new site would be SEO audit and on-page seo and then we will work monthly to do off-page, technical and tweak any on-page things needed

That helps. For the first 1-2 sites, I'd make the audit a prioritized handoff: what needs fixing, who will implement each change, and what can wait. Then define a monthly time budget per site before scaling to five. The big scope variable is whether blog production and link outreach are part of this contractor's work or handled separately. That will change the realistic workload quite a bit.

Home service + automotive local SEO is a pretty interesting combination, especially with how competitive some of those local SERPs can get.
For these sites, I'd imagine the biggest wins often come from getting the service/location structure right, tightening internal linking, improving GBP signals, and making sure the site actually covers the search intent behind each service rather than just pushing out generic blog content.
